Best Figure of 1988 M-Z (Carded)

The second half of 1988's carded figures was a lot easier for me to choose from. Although I am a huge fan of Repeater, Road Pig, and Shockwave, it is Storm Shadow (v2) that wins my vote!

this was a tossup between shockwave and storm shadow. but i had to choose shockwave one of my favorites in the entire line!!

While Muskrat was my go-to Arnie figure, and Shockwave and v2 Storm Shadow were cool, I had to go with Road Pig.

88 SS is my favorite figure of all-time so he's got my vote. But I do love me some Voltar...

i always used 88 ss as my gijoe version so he gets my vote.

I'll never forget being on the school bus one day and some kid told me Storm Shadow was a good guy now.

I didn't believe him. Sounded like something a kid would make up. Storm Shadow was (and remains) my absolute favorite character and the driving force behind my interest in GI Joe. If there had been no ninja in white, the property would be as dead and forgotten to me as Dino Riders or Sectaurs.

Anyway, the kid wasn't lying. I finally saw the new version of Storm Shadow and I was blown away. The sculpt had so many more intricate details than the 84 figure. The double hood reminded me of the ninja costume from the incredible golf course massacre scene in "Ninja III: The Domination" that I had seen on late night cable one night.

Even now, there are some days I think the 88 SS is a better figure than the 84 version, even though the 84 is the timeless classic that even non-Joe fans remember.

1988 Storm Shadow is hands down my favorite GI Joe figure of this year, and quite possibly all time. I desperately hope they make one in the Classified line.

Storm Shadow, but I was expecting Shockwave to lead this the way the March Madness votes went.
