Question for Hammerhead owners - are their any really fragile parts on the Hammerhead to worry about? What are your thoughts on the vehicle? I am thinking of acquiring one as a project to fix up.

I've had one for a year or two. The antenna on top is definitely a fragile part and usually missing or broken. The tabs that hold in the axles to the bottom hull also aren't especially robust.

Thanks for that feedback. With the vehicle in hand what do you think of it?

i like it. i have two accidentally, neither are complete. i keep buying missiles rather than the small add on vehicles because i keep forgetting them.
there are a lot of missiles on this thing. the top pod is a pain in the ass to find, let alone complete. i still dont have one (because i keep forgetting and it's hard to find) the missile pods are usually yellow if htat kind of thing bugs you (im also missing these, because i keep forgetting to get them) oddly enough the things i've had the least trouble getting for this was the missiles. my gripe is the plastic "shocks" from that period, both my hammerheads are kind of wonky thanks to them. |

I had previously read before purchasing it that the front and rear leaf suspension axle assemblies can be fragile, but that has not been my experience so far (even though they certainly look as if they could be). Quote:
In my opinion, it is possibly the best submersible vehicle in the Cobra arsenal. I like that it is fully compatible with both O-Ring and Modern Era action figures. In the photo below, Decimator inspects the stress fracture damage at the weakest point of the Cobra Hammerhead toy.

Hmm...I don't think I ever had the Hammerhead before. That might be one of the vehicles that I have never owned.

We've had a 1990 Cobra Hammerhead submersible sea tank for about a dozen years now and have made several moves with it. So far, nothing has broken on it. My children started playing with it at age 5, and fortunately they didn't lose or break any of the parts.
I had previously read before purchasing it that the front and rear leaf suspension axle assemblies can be fragile, but that has not been my experience so far (even though they certainly look as if they could be). My concern about breakage is that narrow antenna where it meets with the wide antenna mount of the radar unit atop the command center module. My piece quickly developed stress fractures the first time my kids played with it. In my opinion, it is possibly the best submersible vehicle in the Cobra arsenal. I like that it is fully compatible with both O-Ring and Modern Era action figures. The axles on mine have alot of stress whiteness as well as that antenna.
Still, it feels sturdier than the BUGG. Especially the tabs. But ANY OG ARAH vehicle I barely touch because of how fragile they are. I've broken 10 of them just putting them back together recently. |

yeah good luck finding a bugg with the tab for the round sphere pod still intact. that's another one i need to complete and keep forgetting. it's a hell of a lot closer than my hammerheads though.
