card art - The art for the 3 pack in the USA was decent, if silly, breaking a brick wall. 6/10
figure sculpt + colours - Sculpt 7/10, good but the face seemed lacking or maybe it was that it off compared to the cartoon. The skin tone plastic seemed too waxy looking. Painting is solid. Not too many details missed, at least not for the standards of the time. For a character not that appreciated, his paint ops blow away some more beloved characters. Downside is the gold rubs off too easy, same as usual for that color. Colors overall 8/10 weapons + accessories - Pistol is great. Pack is a boring reuse of Dusty's. Accessories are just 6/10 memories from your youth - I owned and used all three Renegades, but rarely if ever with Slaughter. They weren't too memorable, despite being the Joe's Dreadnoks. I guess I was more interested in straight up military battles and these A-Team types with small arms were just a sideshow. The football thing had already been done with Bazooka. And that's my least favorite aspect of Red Dog. Also, the term Red Dog but his filecard said he was a place kicker? |

The Renegades were one of my favorite subteams. I mean, what an awesome concept: a group of sketchy contractors who are sent on deep undercover missions with plausible deniability.
The execution of the figures however was not impressive at all. For undercover guys, they sure liked their bright red and yellow shirts. And the gear they came with, some repainted backpacks and oversize pistols was booooring. Red Dog had a great headsculpt, entertaining filecard, but not much else going for him. I want to give him a 4, but I'll bump it up to 5 just for the sheer coolness of the concept. |

As you can tell from my signature, I like Red Dog a lot.
I'll give the actual figure a 7 though because he's sculpted too small. He should have been a Road Pig sized figure or larger.

He was the weaker of the three for me. I did like the scene in the cartoon where he seemed rabid and bit his weapon, which gave persona to his name. And his actual figure did not come with that weapon. Mercer and Taurus were just cooler to me. I'd give red dog a 6 or maybe a 7.
Sure hope these guys show up in Classified at some point.

8 out of 10. Amazing figure but I agree with J James. Should have been bigger.

Card art: Looks tougher than the actual figure. The orange shirt with sleeves torn off is absent in real life, unfortunately. Figure sculpt + colors: He's a Renegade, but like many others I'm missing some army colors. Weapons + accessories: Backpack is a copy from Dusty, not so special. I like the pistol a lot, it's one of the few that can be positioned in a decent, realistic looking way. Memories from your youth: Not so many, actually. He didn't get a lot of playtime, so that's probably the main reason why. |
