Now if you're referring to who you see on the box, then that's just a v1 ToxoViper.

From the same year the Adder is much less awkward. I picked that instead as a kid. It became Iron Grenadier's vehicle. It has essentially the same role.

If you are buying then honestly just buy both. The Cobra is really modest and the Cobra IMP is a magnificent warrior. With the rate you will make cash doing bounties in the IMP, you'll effortlessly have the option to fabricate the Cobra simultaneously.
Assuming I recall right my Cobra sits at around 6mil in all out cost. |

When considering the information stated on the G.I. Joe vehicle blueprints, the 1988 Cobra Adder (which retailed for $2.99) differs from the 1988 Cobra Imp (retailed for $3.99) in the following ways: The Adder uses all-terrain tires to maneuver the missile platform to an optimal range close enough for the phased array radar (for surface detection and missile uplink capability) to focus on an area of the battlefield to determine the best vehicle target groupings. When those coordinates are locked in, it can fire one of two White Heat II surface-to-surface missiles to deliver anti-tank cluster munitions (raining down smaller shaped charge warheads over a wide area that pierce the armor of G.I. Joe tanks and armored fighting vehicles). The Imp uses tank treads to navigate more difficult terrain to get much closer to the enemy, until the driver (seated behind a super-reinforced protective housing, establishes an infra-red heat signature lock on a vehicle target. He then fires one of three Ambush surface-to-surface missiles to deliver a high explosive anti-tank shaped charge warhead to destroy the target vehicle. Prior to hitting the target, the mine-laying cluster munition missile releases eight anti-vehicle land mines surrounding the vicinity of the target, so that if the vehicle is only damaged, but not destroyed, it cannot safely leave the strike area, nor can other vehicles safely approach the wounded to render aid... area denial. Vehicle dismount is required, the soldiers on foot come under fire from the .50 cal machine gun of the Cobra Imp driver. Two Cobra ground vehicles, but using different types of cluster munitions, and having differing mobility mechanisms, effective ranges, targeting systems, and lethality strategies. Both are nice toys, but the Imp was a little more expensive because it offered more to the battle.

i like the adder too. it didnt get on my radar until a few years back though.
like, i saw it in background pictures. sometimes in collections online. just never wanted it. then i got some bug in my ear about getting one. it's neat. small vehicles are my thing now. i also have a 3d model from sparkbibo of it before he took his models down because shitbags were taking it from thingiverse and selling the stl and prints from it. one day i'll print it, but like ive said 100 times, my print list is too long. |

While I respect your point of view, I disagree about them having the same role, other than to destroy the enemy on the battlefield. Yes, they are both Cobra vehicles introduced in 1988 using cluster munitions, but that is where their sameness ends.

Both are nice toys, but the Imp was a little more expensive because it offered more to the battle. He also would have a very hard time getting out of the Imp once he's in. It needed to be a little longer with the driver sitting down, preferably with a hatch protecting him, and some detail for getting in and out of some kind. I think it's a design that would have benefit from just being a larger vehicle overall. Last edited by BizCopperhead; 02-15-2022 at 11:27 AM.. |
