I just recently became aware of the H.I.S.S. II vehicle (1989). I had stopped collecting Joes in 1987, so wasn't even aware this toy existed ATT.
After doing some research, I am very impressed by this vehicle. It has a very sci-fi/retro look, and I like the features & colors, etc. https://www.yojoe.com/vehicles/89/hiss2/ Though the original Black H.I.S.S. tank is definitely the most iconic, this second version is unique & interesting. I would definitely like to see this re-released in the new Retro line, but seriously doubt it would ever happen - due to the vehicle's obscurity. Love it when an armored vehicle can carry more then just one or two troops. My son had this back when he still played with toys.

Great vehicle. The HISS II is # 1 on my list of vehicles that should've been re-released...

One of my Favorite Vehicles of all time, in fact the only HISS that comes close (and would beat it if it had Cannons instead of just Missile Launchers) is the DTC HISS from 2005. Back in the early 2000s I pieced together a Junker that I painted Black and looked amazing! Wish I still had it, it was my favorite HISS of all time.

I have one and love it. Would love to get another one to paint black and add weathering. I would also change out the turret as that’s the only thing I wasn’t a fan of. I didn’t like the quad cannon.
I would love a combo of the HISS 2 and the POC HISS; two of my favorite versions. The DTC also rates way you there as well, but the troop carrying aspect of the 2 was so nice. |

I can see why Hasbro went with the Hiss III, less tooling etc to do a simple repaint, I like the Hiss II (had one), but it doesn't touch the classic Hiss, only problem I had with the Hiss 1 or even the Red Shadows Hyena ;) is the wheels are molded and never moved on it, I think we all would of loved them wheels moving like the GI Joe Mobat Tank! Here’s hoping they bring out a Hiss II in the retro line, would be cool to see. Last edited by LEEE777; 07-31-2021 at 09:51 AM.. |
