I know for certain that the first figure I ever received was straight-arm Clutch with the VAMP. Pretty sure he was a birthday present, though. I could not tell you the first one I bought myself (with allowance money, presumably). Those details are lost to memory.

I'd bet their GI Joe selection is pretty slim now. Ha. |

Haven't noticed them mentioned, but Toy Chest was the place to go to see all the Joe/Cobra toys but they were usually cheaper at KMart, Venture, Target, or Wally World.

Speaking of TG&Y, does anyone remember Galoob's "Gen Patch" line? They were kind of like the Remco "Bad Guys" or Magnum PI line, during the early 80's before GI Joe dominated? Got some of those at TG&Y in Seguin, Texas staying with my aunt.

Flash and the RAM motorcycle at Roses on Indian River Rd in the Chesapeake area of VA Beach. Loved those toys so much. Yo Joe!

Pretty sure my *first* was Zap. And like most he became a casualty of conflict almost immediately. We didn't know it then but Hasbro was trying to send us all the subtle message that "war hurts" -- especially your fingers.

Yes, Zap may have been the toughest Joe. Many years of service fighting Cobra typically after losing both thumbs early on in battle.

OG straight arm Grunt from Woolworths, followed by a fries and a milkshake in the diner attached to the store, part of me and my Dad’s weekly ritual. Followed the next week by Flash and the RAM.

Woolworth was cool but kinda pricey. Kay-Bee around that time was discount toy nirvana though and where I spent most of my *drop off* time. Yet I was amazed just how much hidden goodness was found in the top level in a corner of Dillards. Of course it was only around Christmas and insanely priced. But still.
