The long and the short of it is that at the end of 2019, I hit a bit of a rough patch and had to liquidate nearly 20 years worth of figure and video game collecting, and I regretted it instantly (though I was thankful for the safety net).
Oddly enough, the start of the pandemic coincided with an abrupt turn around, and in March of 2020, I began the hunt again. I started with what had always been staples of my collection, namely ARAH-era Joes and Super Nintendo games, though along the way (and thanks largely in part to this place being a bad influence), I decided to pick up a few select modern Joes as well. I also decided in February to jump in feet first into Marvel Legends for the first time since Hasbro acquired the rights to the line. I initially told myself that I'd just be focusing on one franchise this time around, but seeing all of the Jim Lee era X-Men that were being released ultimately proved to be too much for me to resist. For my current collection, I've switched my focus up a bit. Most notably, I'm forgoing vehicles in favor of a lower-profile collection that takes up less real estate. I do of course miss such epic toys as the Night Raven, Terror Drome and WHALE, but space is at a premium, and I've always preferred the figures anyway. Another change is that I've decided not to army build ARAH. Used to love doing so, but the improved sculpts and articulation of the modern figures fill that need quite nicely. Probably the most surprising change, however, ids that I find I'm no longer worried about "mint condition" with the OG Joes. I'm still a stickler for completeness( and a few of mine aren't yet), but thing like minor paintwear, loose joints, and discoloration really don't bother me much any longer. It's a kind of window into the figure's past, and I've come to appreciate that. Probably helps that I view these as "my collection" rather than "my collectibles", if that makes any sense. Finally, I owe a lot of thanks to a lot of people that have helped me build my forces back up, but none so much as 'tankers Cross Country and SBartek1974. Those two really gave me quite a head start. Anyway, all of my usual blather aside (and with an obligatory "excuse my poor photography and ever-present dust"):

My jealousy is off the charts!!!
I'm trying to rebuild my collection but these damn prices though! I'm hoping the Retro line grows so I'm not spending $30 to $50 a piece for army builders. |

Awesome man. Gosh damn, that's a lot of Army builders to acquire in only one years time. Where/how did you score that Cobra Mortal? Super jealous of that one.

Yeah dude, I hear that. I've managed to get very lucky with those troops- there's no way I could've done that at the current going prices. A lot of checking the "newly listed" buy it nows in my downtime. I'm thinking that Retro should deliver, though. Everything we've seen so far has pretty much been whatever molds they used last, and for CGs, troopers, and Vipers, they used the good ones last... as long as they don't give us the trooper that was packed in with cigarette mouth Duke during 50th, that is.

Very nice. I stayed away from the Marvel Legends figures even though I’ve been soooooo tempted to collect the X-Men and their various incarnations.
I have nearly all the Marvel Universe figures both loose and MOC so I am ok with those. Did you pre order the HasLab Sentinel?

Sadly, I missed out on that Sentinel- I hadn't jumped on board until the campaign was well past. I may try and score one once people begin to get them in hand though, if I can swing it. I grabbed the DOFP/MU Sentinel as a consolation prize once I realized what I'd missed, but it really doesn't compare.

Yeah man, I was going to stay away too, what kinda hosed my wallet was a combination of seeing the "Love Triangle" 3-pack, and of course, Mr. Hebime's awesome photos in the '21 thread.
