Not even Robo-Joe? Or that green alien? The one with the nut sack on his head?

His father is overrated, anyways, imo. Except for "L.T.'s Theory of Pets" and another short story called "Gramma" (both of which scared the hell out of me when I was a child). Quote:
I reckon Deejay was a delayed BF2000 figure, hence not being released with the others. Also, Recoil - he's shown driving the Pulverizer on the boxart. I reckon he was meant to be another BF2000 character... And finally, speaking of Charbroil, I reckon he was meant to be another BF2000 character...

I am CONVINCED that Darklon is not actually wearing a shirt at all, and that his skin really is green. My theory being he was originally intended to be Cobra Commander in "snake person" form. Before Hasbro scrapped that whole idea (after the movie bombed) and just tossed him in with the Iron Grenadiers at the last moment. (Seriously, check out his filecard, it is literally four sentences long.)

So Stephen King creates the greatest pegwarmer in the entire history of the line, and his son's "reward" was being body-shamed by Hector Garrido? Sure weren't many winners in that deal, now were there? I wonder if Owen remained such a big fan? His father is overrated, anyways, imo. Except for "L.T.'s Theory of Pets" and another short story called "Gramma" (both of which scared the hell out of me when I was a child). Psyche-Out and Stretcher give off a bit of a Battle Force 2000-y vibe as well, actually. (They're all, like, "futuristic" and stuff.) Excellent segue ... Excellent segue? For some odd reason your Darklon quote didn't appear here whilst I was typing....its a good theory, perhaps they were going to use the body with a different bald head for a pre Cobra Commander Cobra La figure, or perhaps the head had multiple eyes as per his 'laboratory accident'...I'm not sure what you meant by his filmcard being four lines though...I do agree that Stephen King is overrated, I've only ever liked 'The Mist' as directed by Frank Darabont and perhaps 'The Shining' as directed by Kubrick...apart from that I don't really like his work...oh, I do like the film adaptation of 'Thinner' too... I quite like Crystal Ball. He was never released in the UK. We only ever saw him on box art for the Cobra Jet Pack - I actually thought he was the Dr Venom character that kept being mentioned in US reprints of the comics as featured as a backup strip in the Marvel UK Transformers weekly comics...either that, or I thought he was Dr Brainwave back in 1988. I think he was also seen on card back photos for things like motorised backpacks or card art or accessories...I like underrated figures these days.

The body of the Insecticycle was ultimately repurposed into Darklon's Evader.

1) He hated Kubrick's take on "The Shining", and "disowned" it. 2) King himself directed "Maximum Overdrive" (arguably the worst movie ever derived from any of his works). Quote:

* In fact, there's even a fairly frightening episode of the 80s "Twilight Zone" based on one of the scary stories I mentioned earlier (though the boy's acting is a bit dodgy):

V1 Sneak Peak' s cardart was odd...he wasn't an awful figure or character really. Incidentally, never released in the UK or EU for that matter I'm sure - except as a Euro/UK Tiger Force exclusive in the 1990s. I bet Sneak Peak's cardart was based on a likeness of Stephen Kings son as he was a big fan of the brand. We all know about how King wrote Crystal Balls filecard and created the character, part of the deal was creating a figure named after his son. I will say that V1 Law looked terrible sans his helmet. He had a real "Bowl Cut" hairdo.
And before anyone says it, yes, Deejay had terrible boots. However, I've come to wonder whether the mould was originally meant to be a new Tele Viper but became Deejay. I like the figure now. I reckon Deejay was a delayed BF2000 figure, hence not being released with the others. Also, Recoil - he's shown driving the Pulverizer on the boxart. I reckon he was meant to be another BF2000 character... One thing, why are there so many barrel chested figures in BF2000? What went wrong during sculpting? Then there's Knockdown, Maverick and Charbroil having used a similar mould for their heads... And finally, speaking of Charbroil, I reckon he was meant to be another BF2000 character... I also reckon Sea Slug was meant to be a Cobra La character for some other unmade vehicle. Just look at him and his gun....reeks of Cobra La....Afterall, Nullifier was actually meant to be the driver/pilot of the Cobra La Insecticycle that never reached full production. Regarding the original BF 2000 Figs - their construction is pretty solid. It seems very rare to come across a BF 2000 fig with a broken crotch piece or cracked elbows. The vehicles are hit or miss but I have become a fan of that sub team. Dee Jay is another story - issues with cracked elbows and broken crotch pieces abound. Very odd design and I feel didn't fit in great with the original BF 2000 team. Interesting theory on Recoil - I do not think he was intended for BF 2000 though. Sometimes the main figures would show up on the box art of sub team vehicles. |
