I always wanted the Defiant. I remember seeing it in the catalogs and stores and salivating over it again and again and again. Unfortunately, my parents couldn't afford it, but I can say that I had a ton of Joes, Transformers, and Star Wars, so I can't complain at all.
I still to this day this minute want a sealed Defiant to open though

Exactly what Mega Convoy said. One thing. I grew up lower middle class so I got most of the early figures, a little bit of army building (2 Snow Serpents, 2 CGs, 2 Vipers and so on), but after the first wave or two, only a handful of vehicles and no big playsets. So I drooled over a 1983 Joe HQ, the beauty of the Cobra Hydrofoil, the magnificence of the Terror Drome, and don't even get me started on the Flagg....so I blame my going super crazy and buying way too much as an adult on what could have been satisfied by one of them as a child.

I definitely remember the Challenger disaster. I was in 6th grade, and my teacher brought in a TV to watch it launch(because of Christa McAuliffe of course). When it exploded and we knew something went horribly wrong, she shut it off immediately and the sadness from her was palpable. That was a bad day. I was and am still a space nut and amateur astronomer, however, and it didn't affect me wanting the Defiant at all.
