Is this supposedly who the Flagg is named after? I'm sure it's mentioned somewhere in the comic books but can't remember.

General Flagg was the commanding officer that the G.I. Joe team reported to in early issues of the Marvel comic book. He was killed off in issue #19, published in 1984. The U.S.S. Flagg aircraft carrier was later named after him.

The action figure called General Flagg wasn't released until 1992. Because Hasbro had a weird hang-up about not wanting to make action figures for characters who were dead in canon, his file card goes out of the way to say: "He's the son of the original G.I. Joe Commanding General (after whom the U.S.S. Flagg aircraft carrier was named)." The sculpting of the figure makes him look pretty young (probably too young to be a general).

To make matters extra ridiculous, in 2004 Hasbro released another General Flagg action figure in a comic book 3-pack that included issue #5. The figure was clearly designed to be the original General Flagg Sr. yet the file card copies the text saying he's Flagg's son.

Yeah, that suit is a pretty terrible excuse for a military uniform. It got used again the following year for Tomax and Xamot, and looked crummy on them too.
