As a collector, I understand and like the idea of one comprehensive central resource for G.I. Joe information, and 3DJoes is best positioned to fill that role now that YoJoe is falling apart. Logically, that would also be the best place to house a collection tracker. I certainly don't want to stand in the way of that. On the other hand, I made my spreadsheet in the first place because it was the only way to satisfy my own OCD tendencies. I can't be sure that anything someone else develops would be as detailed and nit-picky as what I want to see. From what was discussed in Friday's livestream, Carson indicated that a collection tracker checklist is on his roadmap for future inclusion on the site. However, it sounds like it's going to be down the road a bit and he hasn't actually started work on it. I sent him a note and would be open to discussing combining efforts. We'll see where this goes. |

I had a question about the spreadsheet. Is there an easy way to include picture code links on the spreadsheet itself to be able to view a persons collection as they're looking at the spreadsheet on their computer or phone?

I'm not sure what you mean. You want to look at your own collection, or just images of each item like you'd see on YoJoe or 3DJoes?

Yeah, I was wondering if you could put links in your columns to pictures of your own collection? Lets say you're on Ebay and an item comes up for sale that you already have, but may be in better condition. You could go to your spreadsheet and find the item quickly along with a picture to compare with, without having to go dig the item out of storage totes. I wasn't wanting to build a website. Thanks

I think this is a great idea and a really valuable inventory tool. Would you mind sharing your file? Thanks!

The spreadsheet is currently undergoing major revisions with the plan to import it into a database that will be hosted on a web site in (hopefully) the not too distant future.

Ok, I’ll follow for updates. Looks great! A google sheets version would be awesome as well.

Are you still sharing the excel out or will the website be the only interface?

I just learned this week that there's a "sub-variant" (variant of a variant) of Steel Brigade version 1D. I haven't figured out how to index that one yet. |
