I've shown a couple of my more successful customs, but here's one that's probably more representative of my actual skill level.
I was going for this, but, well, meh... Last edited by Josh Z; 11-05-2022 at 03:24 PM.. |

Hasbro's 1994-95 Street Fighter Movie and Mortal Kombat figures, many built with G.I. Joe body parts. I've never had a complete run of either set. I was never into them enough to need to be a completist, though I will say that Smoke, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion made excellent Cobra ninjas.
I forgot to put the 1995 Shang Tsung repurposed from Ninja Commando Budo in this photo because I store that figure separately and already showed him in this thread. This version of Blanka came with a copy of Thrasher's lacrosse stick for some reason. It's a dumb accessory for him, but it works out great for me because the 2004 convention Thrasher repaint figure didn't come with the stick. So now he has one! I've been waiting a long time for a good opportunity to pull this collection out of storage. I just had no place to display it, but I'm in the process of clearing off some shelves to make room.
I have a complete collection of Galoob's 1996 "The Real Adventure of Jonny Quest" toy line, including one canceled item that only showed up in stores in South Africa for some reason. Funnily, I never saw a single episode of the cartoon (though I have seen the original 1960s Jonny Quest). I just really liked the toys. They're all very nicely sculpted. The figures come with lots of neat accessories, and all the vehicles are loaded with fun features. The figures are a little smaller than G.I. Joes, but close enough in scale to be playable with them. In fact, two of the vehicles eventually made their way into the G.I. Joe line (as the Night Landing Craft and the Cobra Mantis Sub) after Hasbro bought Galoob. The cartoon and all associated merchandise were huge flops. In updating the 1960s cartoon for the 1990s, Hanna-Barbera leaned hard into the silliest of '90s trends, include rad "extreme" sports and Virtual Reality. I can only imagine how dumb the "Questworld" VR stuff must have played in the cartoon, but it has a cool Tron aesthetic that I can appreciate as a fan of that movie. All of the Questworld vehicles had light-up features. Only about half of mine still work. The others appear to be broken, probably because I left the old batteries in them for years to corrode. In addition to all those, I have have this weird guy made in vintage Hasbro o-ring style. I have no memory of where he comes from or where I got him. I only found two references on the web that suggest he was a bootleg from Argentina. https://www.yojoe.com/international/...nnyquest.shtml https://www.worthpoint.com/worthoped...-joe-526865323 Last edited by Josh Z; 11-05-2022 at 03:24 PM.. |

The JQ toys may be a little cramped together on these shelves, but this is the first time I've ever found room to display them. They've spent most of their lives boxed up in my closet.

Perhaps someone here can tell me what this figure is? Honestly, I don't remember a thing about where I got her.
I mean, obviously this is supposed to be an Agent Scarlett circa 2002. However, I can't find any reference to this color scheme on YoJoe. She's still sealed in the original baggie and I've never opened it. To my knowledge, it's not a custom. A collector friend suggests that it may be a prototype, but I frankly have a hard time believing that I went out of my way to buy a prototype for such an ugly figure that I hate. YoJoe lists two prototypes for this build of Agent Scarlett, neither with these colors: https://www.yojoe.com/preprod/02/scarlett2.shtml https://www.yojoe.com/preprod/02/scarlett.shtml |

Look who just joined his family to complete my Bionic Six set! His paint's a little dinged-up, especially in the hair and glasses, but he looks better than most samples I've found on eBay.

I also recently picked up a set of white S.T.A.R. Force guys to go with their Lazer Force counterparts.

New acquisition. The most '90s thing ever.
