I do! I have a set as well (actually two sets of the heroes). Back in the early 2000s, I picked up a full set MOC for something like $120 which I considered fair at the time for the reason you mentioned - it's hard to find any decent used ones without chipped paint. One set is complete with accessories, the other set is pretty much minus all accessories and just used for posing on the van, 2 quads, and dirt bike. I do have an extra Dr. Scarab to go on his laser throne once I finish restoring it.
I think the Aero Chair is the jet thing you are referring to since the jet from the actual show never got made. Cool display and good luck on hunting down a JD in decent shape! |

The only thing I remember clearly about the cartoon is that the characters would transform into bionic mode by inserting a ring on one hand into a bracelet on the other - a move the action figures can't replicate because they don't have swivel-arm grip! I do like the figures, though. Quote:

Used to have the Bionic Six headquarters. It was an odd set but had some fun features. Figures I had the Dr Scarad, the purple baddie and evil woman. The good guys only had the two women. I think they were clearance purchases, and I guess that shows who the least popular characters were.
I had one laser force chrome figure I had Star Force lazer force guy with the big dome and mic. Those were hard to find. I think the Bio Wings had Star Force versions but I sure never saw them. Had a few of the Star Force guys in "Power Ranger" colors |

I have spares of Scarab, the dad, and the karate kid. All three are pretty beat up. In fact, I just looked and the dad's arm broke off while in storage.
Yeah, what the heck is that thing? A chair with wings? The only thing I remember clearly about the cartoon is that the characters would transform into bionic mode by inserting a ring on one hand into a bracelet on the other - a move the action figures can't replicate because they don't have swivel-arm grip! I do like the figures, though. I've never seen one for sale that wasn't in terrible condition. Was he way more prone to disintegrating than the rest? There's a set of three figures on eBay now from a seller in the UK, and the JD figure looks like it took a dip in acid or something. https://www.ebay.com/itm/LJN-Toys-Vi...2/383520691380 The Aero Chair had some kind of build in infrared thing I think to duel Scarab's throne, like Captain Power. In the cartoon, the Professor used it to "recharge" the powers of the Bionic-6 (I re-watched the series last year). Mine actually should arrive today, it was the last vehicle I needed and I am passing on the playset. You can catch decent ones on eBay, but you will have to watch for awhile. It took me about 6 months to track down a second set of heroes with passable paint wear. You cant' strip and repaint them easily because the legs are riveted together, otherwise I probably would have gone that route if there were some reproduction logos for their chests. |

This one isn't really about "digging through my collection" since these have been on prominent display in my G.I. Joe cabinet for years, so much as it's just me showing off. Who else here has any Manimals?
The three that were released at Kay-Bee toys in 2001 should be pretty common. I have those as well as three prototypes: one fully factory-painted 1994 Iguanus, plus unpainted test shots from 2001 for the canceled Zigzag and Spasma. Between the prototypes and Kay-Bee figures, I have all of the first-wave Manimal characters except the extremely difficult to obtain Vortex. The prototype Iguanus is the most money I've spent on a single G.I. Joe item. It was purchased in either 1995 or 1996 through an auction at Cotswold Collectibles. This was pre-eBay and no online bidding, so I had to actually phone in a bid, and they would call me back every time someone outbid me, asking if I wanted to raise. This went on pretty late into the night due to time zone differences, until I finally learned that I'd won. Sadly, I missed out on a two-up prototype Battle Corps Rangers Baroness at the same auction. I couldn't afford both and prioritized the Manimal. Last edited by Josh Z; 11-05-2022 at 03:24 PM.. |

OK, I guess nobody's into the Manimals. Fair enough.
Back to digging weird stuff out of my closet. Here's a really ugly 3.75" Rambo figure. Stamp on the inner leg says 1994 with copyright to Carolco. Not sure of the manufacturer. He's very top-heavy and prone to falling forward onto his face. I'm thinking I got this at a dollar store. At least, he certainly has the looks of that kind of product. I like to make him fight RoboCop in a battle of '80s icons! Last edited by Josh Z; 11-05-2022 at 03:24 PM.. |

From the category of "Why Does This Exist?" come a pair of M*A*S*H action figures released in 1982. The fact that someone believed a M*A*S*H toy line would appeal to kids is best summed up in this article: "What 8-year-old was hankering to play pretend war surgery with a David Ogden Stiers action figure?"
To further hammer home the improbability, these were released during the show's 11th and final season. The facial likenesses are reasonably good, especially by 1982 standards. I can easily recognize Alan Alda and Mike Farrell from them. However, their articulation sucks. The diaper waists make seating them in any of the vehicles very difficult. The figures have an almost comically long copyright notice on their backs. Several characters were released (including Klinger in drag!), plus a jeep, ambulance, and helicopter. The confoundingly large Military Base playset spread across a 16-square-foot play mat. I don't have any of the official M*A*S*H vehicles, but the figures look pretty good in this jeep released much later by 21st Century Toys, so long as you don't get too nit-picky about historical accuracy. (I believe this jeep is supposed to be from the Vietnam War.) Last edited by Josh Z; 11-05-2022 at 03:24 PM.. |

I'd love to get one of these helicopters (the one from the show's opening credits), but everything I've read says that they were super brittle and broke apart easily.
