I've sold toys, video games, etc. on Ebay from time to time for years, so here are some of the things I've learned:
If you want to make a little money extra, use first class(good for small packages, say one Joe is easily under the weight limit) or Priority Mail(more expensive, but faster delivery times-good for larger vehicles and playsets). Ebay usually gives you a percentage discount on these types if you print shipping labels through them, so a few extra cents in the pocket. Or, like said above, offer free shipping and factor that cost into your listing price. Never ship toys in a bubble mailer. Always use a box. This will prevent damage. Buy it nows are better for getting the price you desire. A good tip is to price high and allow best offers, then accept offers at the price you were originally wanting. I will usually do a buy it now basic for the first 30 day listing, then change to best offers after that. Don't feel worried if you don't sell it right away and want to lower the price to get it to move. Keep it at the price you feel is right and wait it out. Someone will buy it. It is pretty easy to look up comparison sales(comps) for items. Just type in the item you want to sell and look up sold listings for a good idea what you want to sell it for. Ebay also tells you the average price for the item when you are creating your listings. Don't be afraid to spend extra to advertise your listing, especially if it is a very high dollar item. Facebook groups or Craigslist are good to get the price without paying Ebays final value fees, but you will get far less views. |

Just need to vent a little. I listed a Starduster 1B on eBay. The auction ended last Sunday and it sold for a good price, but the buyer didn't pay right away. I checked his feedback and he only has 4 transactions (all supposedly positive, assuming they're not bogus). As the 48 hours after auction close approached, I messaged him a reminder. No response. After the 48 hours, I reported it to eBay.
The guy finally responds to my message on Thursday telling me that he'll pay me Friday when he gets paid. Friday mid-day comes and I message him again, telling him that I will relist the item if he doesn't pay by Saturday. Trying not to be too rude about it (because I do want to get paid), I also remind him that eBay rules require payment within 48 hours after the auction ends. He responds: "To b honest I’ve never read the rules I’m still at work I will pay u before then." Note there's no apology in any of this. Big surprise, here we are on Saturday and he still hasn't paid me. Argh, what a jackass. I don't need to deal with BS like this right now. |

Yeah, this happens to me a lot. Just this past month I've had two buyers send me best offers on some modern Transformers I've been selling. I accept, and then no payment and no contact. I wait a couple of days and ask them what their intentions are. No response. One of them had less than 10 feedback, but the other had over 150 100% positive! I just file Non payment claims and go from there. If they pay, they pay. If not, unpaid item strike for them(apparently this was the second for the 150+ feedback one, so they are now showing as a Non registered user) and your final item value fee back. If they pay late and try to give you a negative, you can dispute it and ebay will remove it, so no worries either way.
A few more tips: If you need ebay customer service, don't email or call them. It's useless. You are far better off going to their social media(i.e. facebook page) and contacting them there. I've had better response times and assistance from going that way. Especially if you are scammed. If you are going to sell a lot, set up a store, or be a reseller, allow returns. If you are only selling from time to time, DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS. This will help you from being scammed. I've had a return(plus horror stories from other sellers) where the buyer put a bunch of garbage in the package and tried to inform ebay it was returned. When I fought it, ebay went in their favor, until I went to the facebook page above and pitched a fit. I actually received some assistance then. On another note: What's your store name Josh Z? I would like to see what you might have. Last edited by Goldchains; 09-12-2020 at 03:18 PM.. |

Thanks. The guy finally paid me this afternoon. I will ship on Monday. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to be a dick and leave me negative feedback.
