AH-74 Apache I don't think made it to Canada, at least I never saw it. First time ever seeing it was at a Fred Meyer when I was visiting the US. It looked so cool and I really wanted it.
When I finally got one though, I was very disappointed and then found out why it was so out of scale later on. One thing that disappointed me the most as a kid though was that Wetsuit couldn't take his helmet off. In the cartoons, he was shown without his helmet and dive gear most of the time. I really wanted him to be like that. Ended up having to have a second one so one had no gear and a random unhelmeted head. It wasn't until early 2018 or late 2017 that I finally got the version of Wetsuit I wish I had as a kid.

There were 2 that I remember:
The heat-activated stickers for Zartan never seemed to work for me and I thought it was going to be a pretty neat feature. I already owned all of the 82 Joes & Cobras....and then they all came back out with the superior swivel-arm battle grip. It was disappointing that I wasn't able to re-buy them all!

The USS Flagg was a bit disappointing it did not have a complete hull.

Probably the Ninja Force Scarlet and Snake-eyes. I was reading the comics at the time and I really dug the new all black costume he had. But then when I got the figure and they attached that horrible leg articulation on him for his gimmick, I was bummed.
Same with Scarlet. By the time I really started getting GI Joes in the late 80s/early 90s, there weren't a lot of women characters on the shelves. Scarlet was the first one I was able to buy and she was saddled with that lame kicking gimmick. |

Then I looked at the actual Scarlett figure and thought: "pass". Also realized I was 18 or 19 and that the whole idea wasn't something to be proud of. So I spent that 4 bucks on comics books or used CDs...

I don't like criticizing them, as I miss them, but, yeah I was expecting much more with Flint, Lady Jaye, and Scrap Iron.
Also, I felt the original Storm Shadow was overrated. Loved the Vol 2 Joe. Gung Ho Vol 2 seemed like a great concept, but hard to play a scenario or fight. |

For me, it was the 86 figures. Beach Head was the worst, because his head looked huge with a scrawny neck, he was like a kid in a Halloween costume. It just didn't compare with the incredible card art. Leatherneck was kind of the same situation. The comic and cartoon had him as a big, burly guy and the figure was a scrawny guy with a huge hat and a sad sack expression. The Cobra Viper was another bobble head. He would have looked amazing if the helmet had been scaled down a little.
Oddly, I never had a problem with guys like Lifeline, Mainframe or Lift Ticket having sculpted on helmets. I'm guessing it's because they looked so much better than the removable ones and the character was kind of defined by that helmeted look anyway. |

Not sure what everybody has against Flint. That figure's always looked good to me.

Funny you mentioned flint first. I couldn't stand that figure as a kid. There came a day that I sold a bunch of my childhood toys for like 10 cents and such, but I only sold two joe items: The awe striker (with the open passenger area, never thought it was as defensible as the vamp) and flint, couldn't stand that slanted beret. Pretty sure I kept the shotgun though.
