Doing a restore on a Whale. It’s mine from when I was a kid. The sled launcher is broken and have new one on the way. I took the whale apart last night and had difficulty getting the mechanism cover off. Is there a good way to get this off without damaging it? To my knowledge it’s been virtually untouched since it was all put together in 1985. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks! |

I also restored my childhood WHALE but don't recall any issues with a cover other than separating the main body via the screws.

Can you post a pic of what you are trying to take off?

Good idea. I just recall the white plastic level extending down from the shell and sitting in the black base with the spring. I don’t recall a cover, unless he’s talking about the launch door? In which case just leave it.

Here you go. It won’t budge. Does this normally come off pretty easily? Should I try WD-40 to loosen?

Got it. WD-40 and elbow grease and a whole lot of terrible sounds!
