My advice would be to take it slow and methodical. Document or take pictures as you disassemble so you have a reference for reassembly.

Oh man, cleaning out something that's been gathering dust for years is a mission! I had to tackle my garage last summer, and it was like a dust bomb went off in there. What worked for me was taking it step by step. I snapped photos on my phone as I went along, so I wouldn't forget how to put everything back together.
When you're actually cleaning, go easy with a soft brush or some compressed air - that stuff works wonders. And definitely mask up, you don't want to be sneezing dust for days. And hey, if it gets overwhelming, there's always help out there. I ended up calling house cleaning dublin for my garage nightmare. They sorted it out in no time. Might be worth a shot if you're near Dublin and need an extra hand. Last edited by Nictus; 01-19-2024 at 07:16 AM.. |

I have been getting vintage ARAH vehicles from ebay and when they don't come from fellow collectors, they are usually dusty and grimy as hell. I have bought a cheap bucket from Dollar Tree, and fill it with 6% bleach solution (water and bleach) and some Dawn dish soap. Let it soak for a day or two (if not painted plastic, if painted then less than that or the bleach can cause the paint to fade a little bit). If it still has grime after that, I usually use a tooth brush with some dish soap to clean in the corners and edges. After that a rinse on the sink and let it air dry.
In the case of the terror drome, since it is yours, you can pass on the bleach, and since it is so big, I would disassemble it in parts that just fit in a bucket (maybe a 5 gallon one). As others said, take pictures while you disassemble, but I would disassemble as little as possible as this is old plastic. |
