I have this life-size GI Joe flamethrower/water gun and cannot find any information on it anywhere. There are also no markings whatsoever, with the exception of 'GI Joe' on both the 'gun' and the tanks. It can be mounted on one's back, has an orange hose connecting the tanks to the 'gun', and the tanks can be filled with water.
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Unfortunately, it is not mine and I do not know how old it is.
Wish I could, but the trigger is defective and the tank has a crack in it. |

Based on the logo this looks sixties.
I would say between 1964 and 1970 I went through all the online Sears and Penny's catalogs to no avail. There were a ton of toy guns from 1964 to about 1968 or 1969. Then, almost nothing. Adventure team came in the seventies with a new AT logo.

I remember this from when I was a kid. One of my friends had it. As a collectible, this is a great find, but as a s toy, it really wasn't that great. If you filled the tank then it weighed a ton (for a kid) bounced around if you tried to run around with it. It also didn't shoot any further than other squirt guns.
It was pretty cool looking - that's for sure. |

There's a little more info here... it was part of Hasbro's "Backyard Patrol" line of child sized toys.
