I'm going to look at some Evergreen sheet styrene soon, and see about using model spray paint and Cobrastickers repro decals. When I get to that point, I'll post the results of course.

Cool, thanks. I didn’t realize that the vintage gliders were so thin. I’ve had the vintage clips and Cobrastickers decals for both gliders in my drawer for years lol. Just haven’t gotten around to executing one. I’m going to sit back and just copy you lol.

You can try to make some for yourself, if you have the spare time.
Back in 2010, my kids wanted the Falcon and Viper Gliders added to our G.I. Joe collection, but I couldn’t afford to buy any, so I was wanting someone to make them for me. D&J Toys was going to produce some, but his were significantly under scale and of a too thick/heavy material, so I decided to make some gliders myself. I used two sheets of colored poster board, and attached them with glue to a single sheet of corrugated cardboard. The camouflage pattern was drawn and colored with black permanent marker. The poster board is covered with laminated adhesive plastic, the edges crimped with pliers and taped, and stickers from ToyHax (formerly Cobra Stickers) were applied. The black plastic support frames used on these are the original 1983 Hasbro toy pieces, which are not too difficult to track down, because the foam pieces of the toy are now virtually nonexistent on the market. Several years later, hisstank member Guam created even nicer versions of these Gliders using different materials but a very similar process which I used. My kids played with these for years, and the gliders are still holding together…

This is the white modeling foam. It is the correct thickness and paintable and one sheet is big enough to make a complete glider. One day I might try to find the proper paint and/or learn how to use an air brush and try making another one.
