Earlier today I went to the True Value/Coast to Coast store to buy a pack of plumbing O rings since I needed to get some to put a few of my G.I. Joe figures back together.
Two figures im having a hard time with trying to put back together. Snow outfit Stalker and a Ninja Night Creeper. I dunno what screw Hasbro used for Stalker and the Night Creeper. The screws wont come out no matter how hard Ive tried to get them loose. They just wont come out. I dont want to jam the screwdriver in or else I might damage the torso of the figures. Ive used the newer O rings to put together my Marine uniform Gung Ho, Subzero and a Flak Viper. THeyre put back together but i think the new O rings might be a little bigger or something where the legs are a little looser for some unknown reason. Just for one small card pack of 4 or 5 O rings, I had to pay 6 bucks for it. the hardware store had other packs of O rings but I didnt want to spend 8 bucks for a deluxe pack |

But that's probably for the better overall, since that means less stress on the shaft that the screw passes through, and less stress on the crotch. I've proactively replaced the O-rings on a few figures whose O-rings were otherwise still fine, and am swapping out the O-rings on any figures I'm performing maintenance on, no matter what shape the originals are in. For the figures you can't unscrew--are the screws stripped? Or can you feel them moving when you twist the driver?

That's a great attitude to have toward a group trying to help.

The screw inside Snow Stalkers back torso piece is in there tight. Like I said, if I jammed a screwdriver in there too rough then something would probably break.

Evening All,
New collector here. Just starting out with attempting to collect and restore some of my favorite vehicles and play sets. I actually ended up buying a box of random parts and decided to start cobbling together my first (small) restoration project - The Watch Tower battle station accessory. Removed all labels and cleaned with Goo Gone (this stuff is awesome!) Thoroughly washed all panels and nooks with a toothbrush. Ordered repro decals and waiting for them to arrive. My issue is after removing the decals, the discoloration is still visible. I went to town on the surfaces with the Novus 3 step scratch remover, but the ghost of the decal can still be seen. Is there something I can do or is this typical? Thanks for any assistance. This forum is a an excellent resource for noobs like me 8) |

It's typical, some are worse than others. Hopefully the new decals will cover most of it.

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of.
The previous owners didn't have the best placement so some of it will visible once I put the new ones on. I guess I can live with it. I don't want to get into trying to hunt down pristine parts this early. |

Hello all,
New member to the site and the forums. I just got a vintage 1983 Skystriker (my favorite toy when I was a kid) as a Father's Day present the other day and I'm in the middle of its restoration. She was in better shape than I thought once I removed all the stickers and cleaned it. Canopy is nice and clear and scratch free, Ace's joints are all tight (replacement rubber bands are coming), and all the parts and mechanisms work and look great. I also have a display stand coming from EBay so I can display her in flight mode. I had two questions that I hope the forum can help me out with. Thanks in advance for any help I can get and I'll post pics when I get the display stand! 1: The wings have a slight droop to them, is there any way to straighten out the wings and firm them up? Any tips? 2: Any replacement sticker site recommendations? Just doing a google search I've found Cobrastickers.com/Toyhax.com, TF Kingdom.com, and Rattlerrepos (they are currently sold out of Skystriker sets). Is there a preference out there for where you all get your stickers? |

See the link below for my restoration pics. The Sky Striker in in the vintage joe restoration 1983 album towards the bottom of the album page. Best of luck with your project. At first I was only interested in modern Joes and thought the past was behind me. But after retrieving my old toys out of my mother’s attic due to the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, I was hooked on vintage restorations. It’s amazing how the old memories of playing with the toys as a kid comes rushing back to you as you handle the old toys.
