I've heard tell on a few occasions of knee pins in ARAH-type figures breaking, but I just had that happen to one of mine for the first time today--specifically, Viper (v11) from Spy Troops. What exactly might cause the joint to fuse up like this? The only other time I've had a joint break like this was on a second-hand figure where I accidentally glued the joint shut. Luckily, his Alley Viper buddy is OK, as are all the other figures from that period I've played with lately. Also luckily, the knee is still functional and stable thanks to how the legs fit together, and it probably wouldn't be too much of a pain to "fix" it properly if I needed.
Oh, and in a funny coincidence, I had replaced the O-rings in my Viper Pit set last night, as I heard leaving the stock ones in could cause damage to the crotch, and had recently gotten some new O-rings with less tension than the stock ones. I think the problem isn't with the O-rings specifically, but that when they tooled the new upper legs, they put the hip socket a little too far down, which would pull harder on the O-ring. Not that it changes much at this stage, but I thought it was an interesting observation.

I was taking advantage of a slow stint at work and a lack of overtime to catch up on some long over due restorations. I don’t want to come off like a weirdo or anything but has anyone else had some old memories surface while restoring old Joes? I was working on my Cobra Fligt Pod and had a memory or myself at the age of ten disassembling the back enging and putting it back together. I’m not talking about memories that you knew you had, but memories that you had long forgotten. It’s haunting yet welcoming. Please tell me I’m alone in this.

Playing around with using Green Stuff to resculpt broken crotches on waist pieces. Here's how Steeler is looking so far:
You can see the seam where the putty meets the rest of the waist, and his dick basket and hip sockets are a little rough around the edges, but it's turning out well. Overall it sort of looks like an '82 diaper-crotch at a glance. (This particular figure was one of the late 80s mail-away versions with the swivel arm and narrower crotch.) I was also able to paint-match the putty portion pretty convincingly (better than the factory elbows & forearms!), and may look better when glossed up a bit more. Here's an earlier picture for comparison along with a CG Immortal I'm working on:

Hey magic. That looks really good. That paint looks like a perfect match. Can I ask what paint that is?

It's Tamiya Olive Green with some Tamiya Yellow mixed in for shade and color. Then a little bit of trial-and-error to see how much yellow you need to add to the olive to get the shade right.

Oh, forgot to mention that one of Steeler's knees (the right one, I think) had technically broken, in that half of the peg that holds the knee on had broken off, but was lodged into the recess on the other side of the leg and appeared to be stuck there. So in other words, instead of threading a peg through the knee joint, you have to assemble both halves of the leg around the knee joint in order to form the full peg. But it works! In any event, not a big, big deal, but something I wanted to share. Maybe I'll take pictures.
Finally got the voice backpack off Talking Battle Commanders Stalker. For whatever reason, instead of making these backpacks removable like the Sonic Fighters' and Super Sonic Fighters', these were bolted to the figure. In order to access the screws to remove them, you first had to unscrew a quartet of screws on the outside of the backpack itself. (Side note: did Hasbro ever confirm exactly what they were smoking when they decided upon this design?) On Stalker here, 3 of the 4 removed fine, but 1 was stripped, and I only recently finally got the tool necessary to grind it out. From there, I was able to easily remove the screws bolting the backpack to his back. Now, after all these years, I can actually play with this damn figure Think of that. Next up is General Hawk, but either 3 or 4 of the backpack screws are stripped, so this will take a little while...

The only reasoning I can think of as to why TBC joes have their talking backpacks bolted to them is that while regular sonic fighter backpacks could work with any joe or cobra, the talking packs are actually specific to that figure - putting cobra commanders talking backpack on, say, lady jaye, would not make any sense, because why would she be yelling 'Vipers Attack!' in a starscream voice. Why would Snake Eyes ever be yelling "BATS Attack!" etc.
