Who was the last figure you bought as a kid, or collector, from the original run? Did you stop before 1994? Did you outgrow GIJoe and become 'too cool' for toys?
I can remember finding EFFECTS at a Target store while on lunch break between classes in college. I also remember seeing the entire set of Lunatrix Aliens - which went on to be really rare and valuable. I only got the Predecon and Lebotomax... always regretted not getting the orange guy - and I never saw him again. This was the ONE AND ONLY time I saw any of the last wave in stores. Truly the end for the original run. It was kind of like ten years earlier - finding the entire Power of the Force line on the pegs in a Meijer store - and I only got LANDO for some reason. Talk about regret! |

final figure was Dr. Mindbender....I was 12 by then, and toys gave way to bikes, friends and girls. Funny, I still don't have a Mindbender. Everything after 87 really means very little to me...I still collect them..but don't connect like I did 82-86.

1993 Beachhead. Also, a hooded Cobra Commander I’d ordered like, two years before came in after that.
I have bought figures for every line, though. I had to hide them from my parents in high school because they thought I was too old. Talk about nerdy... my secret stash was Joes. Last edited by blayze5150; 04-29-2018 at 08:47 AM.. |

The last ARAH figure I bought was Big Bear. It had been about a year since I had bought a Joe, but I saw him on the peg and was shocked to see ANOTHER Oktober Guard guy had come out, so I grabbed, “for the collection”. I was 13 I think, and I remember putting the KB bag inside another bag so no one would see me walking around the mall with a toy.
I didn’t buy anymore action figures until the new POTF2 Star Wars stuff came out in ‘95. It’s weird how time works when you’re a kid, because the five years between Big Bear and Monkey-face Leia seemed like a decade, and the decade between the end of the original Kenner line and the new ones seemed like a lifetime. This time, however, rather than being embarrassed, my friends and I were all on an obsessive hunt to score the new SW stuff (Star Wars was a big deal for Straight Edge Hardcore kids in the early ‘90s). My girlfriend at the time actually found me the first POTF2 figures I got. |

I really wanted Slice and Night Creeper in High School but didn't buy them until a few years ago. My last figure, looking at Yojoe's list for 1989, was either Alley Viper or TARGAT or Recoil. My best friend's little brother was still buying them, and had Frag-Viper, Annihilator, Snake Eyes 3, HEAT Viper, Night Viper and Stalker 2, so, of course, I'd play with them when I went over there. Good times...

I believe 1990's Rock Viper. At that point I was buying the new technology... CDs! haha.
I used my very first tax refund $130 to buy a huge Sony CD player for $112 bucks, batteries and one CD! I used what was left to buy Rock Viper.
