Iron Grenadier. I just grew out of toys in general. I was 12 and it was time for sports, baseball cards and girls.

I started getting Joes late, around '90 (Sonic Fighters Dodger being my first). I kept buying until they were no longer on the pegs here in Australia. I don't think we ever got the '94 star brigade figures down under. I don't recall my exact last figure, but I'm fairly certain the last 3 were '93 NF Scarlett, '93 NF Bushido, and '94 Shadow Ninjas Snake Eyes.

Either Backblast or Stalker V2. Think both were gifts from my grandmother, god rest her soul. They used to sell Joes at a pharmacy chain near our house that closed down in the 90s. I can't remember the name. She would get a Joe for me every once in awhile during the run.
I was in junior high and already outgrowing all of that, but I do remember thinking Backblast looked cool as hell and thinking it was wild that a carded figure came with a vehicle. Wish I had both figures today, but I wish I had my grandmother more than anything. |

My last retail purchase was Recoil. I made the jump to Ninja Turtles in 89-90, but I'd still trade for Joes or buy them from yard sales afterwards. The next Joe items I bought was the Rattler 4-WD with Vypra and the Cobra Polar Force from TRU in 98.

My last childhood purchase of Joes was the Slaughter's Renegades 3 pack in '87, with some birthday money. I'm not sure why I bought them, since I kinda dropped out of playing with Joes in the summer of '86, when I just moved onto Transformers and LJN WWF wrestling figures. I was practically a completionist until the '86 line, it started to trickle off there. By Spring '87, I was all into comics, thrash metal, skateboarding and drawing, and action figures went up to the attic. Why I blew $10 or whatever on Taurus, Red Dog and Mercer instead of a Slayer or Celtic Frost album, I'll never know.

I don't remember the actual last figure, but I can narrow it down to Falcon, Outback, Chuckles, or Psyche-Out. '87 was the last year I got any figures from and they were the only ones I got. I'm pretty sure it wasn't Falcon. If I had to guess, I'd say it was most likely Psyche-Out.

I guess 'technically' I never stopped. Went right from the end of ARAH to Savage to Extreme to Joe Vs Cobra, VvV, Sigma Six and so on...
Its been a constant fun hobby over the years. |

I'm pretty sure it was Star Brigade Duke V6 in 1994, in 1997 it was 15th Anniversary Duke with the Mirage for ARAH

Techno Viper. I had been searching for him ever since spotting his design on the card back. He was going to start fixing anything and everything in my Terrordrome motor pool. When I finally got him and the Cobra Poggo, they looked great, but I didn't really feel like playing all that much anymore. I had just turned 15 and toys were finally fading for me (much to my stepfather's delight).
I still loved GI Joe. I boxed everything up and I kept it stored in my parents' garage even after I'd moved out. I'd come back for everything once I had an apartment with more storage space. I guess that day didn't come fast enough because my parents divorced, sold the house and threw all my Joes in the trash without even telling me.
