Are there any reasons I should not throw away vintage broke Joe crotch pieces? I have bunch in my parts bags and want to clean up a little.

As a strictly ARAH customizer, I've kept them and rebuilt the crotches with epoxy putty for customs but I know that's not everyone's thing. I have also use them as a placeholder when rebuilding a figure piece by piece while waiting for a non-broken replacement. I say toss them if you don't care to use them in any other way...

Thanks for replying. Have you successfully rebuilt broken thumbs with epoxy?

I have done it in the past but it became problematic and I stopped doing it in favor of just cutting off the original broken hands and replacing them with new hands glued on, this I also do as a ARAH customizer. Again you could keep them as placeholders until non-broken replacements can be acquired...

You should throw all those broken waist pieces in one ebay auction and just see what they go for. It'd be a nice little experiment if nothing else. I've had what I consider to be garbage parts/repair lots sell alot quicker than some of mint figures on ebay (although starting price is a big factor to be sure). Anyway, just an idea.

I've heard of people toss broken toy parts before, but it never made much sense to me. If we could 3D print the exact same part that looks and feels the same, then sure (Can we?)...but seems like we'd just see a world with a lot of figures missing waists, even a broken one is better than no one.

I agree with selling them. As high as some ARAH stuff goes for lately, it's worth a try.

Good idea to try and sell them. I don’t really have that many but I could try that in future.

For me, I can’t seem to stand broken parts. It’s like the figure is dead to me if he has a broken crotch or thumb. No Purple Heart medals in my Army I guess.

Yeah, broken thumbs are a turn off here too. I have not had good success with crotches and 2 part epoxy, but have tried a certain thin cyanoacrylate adhesive that works very well so far...
