God I loved these types of ads. Interesting to see some of the differences between these and the actual production figures. Zandar has an arm tattoo, Monkeywrench had short sleeves, and Sgt. Slaughter even looks different. Almost like he had the old swivel head design.

I absolutely love stuff like this. As already noted by Ford, I get a kick out of the subtle differences from what could have been to what was.

the missile array on the Devilfish is off. That must have been a pre-production sample w/ glued on missiles

The Flagg is also the taller prototype, would love to get a shot of the other side to figure out how tall it was initially intended.

The B.A.T. has a different head too. I hope it doesn't give the Club any ideas!

These got sent to toy stores. My neighborhood Play-Co, which was staffed by high-schoolers, had one, and the kid showed it to me one day when I came in with my mom. To my 12-year-old brain, in the days before the internet, seeing this was like finding a treasure map and realizing the treasure was in your own town; Or finding a lost tomb that had never been raided.
And then waiting for them to show up on the shelves? Man, what a time. I don't want to get too sentimental, but the nostalgia is palpable. Cool, fun stuff. |

So does anyone know who would have these figures that look so cool and different? Tomax and xamot, Sgt Slaughter, Zandar and Zarana, Leatherneck, slip stream. These figures still have to be out there somewhere. Who has them damn it!!!! So cool. I love s@&t like this.
