Hi All..
I would like to share my experience and also get to know about your experience with flag points.. In the late 80's and early 90's, I had collected enough flag points to send it to FUNSKOOL INDIA for exchange of goodies.. All i remember was posting these flag points to FUNSKOOL headquarters in Madras, India.. I had posted them a huge amount of flag points.. After a few days, i received a mailer from FUNSKOOL.. They had posted me a outpost defender.. Outpost defender never came as boxed in Funskool as far as i remember.. The also sent me loose gunny bags.. After a month i collected few more flag points and this time they sent me more loose gunny bags.. I have not seen those gunny bags ever again.. This is what FUNSKOOL used to give away as premium.. I had given about 30 flag points for the outpost defender.. Another 15 odd flag points for the loose gunny bags.. there were a few figures but required quite high flag points which i was unable to acquire then as i had to spend pocket money to get the flag points and i got limited with the same.. I would like to know who else got the same goodies as premium from HASBRO.. Also please do list the known premiums given away for exchange of flag points till date.. Please share your experiences.. Any input or knowledge will help.. Thank you.. Last edited by aatifk; 01-20-2016 at 04:27 AM.. |

That is pretty neat.
Here are all the inserts that offered things for flag points YOJOE.COM | Inserts I believe the first thing I ordered with Flag Points was battle helmet Cobra Commander. Followed by the MANTA, Duke, Major Bludd, and more.

I had every "exclusive" mail-in figure or vehicle up until the Fridge in 1987, when I stopped playing with toys.
My favorite was Duke, I remember seeing his offer when I got the Battle Bear and thinking he was so cool. I begged my mom to take me back out to get some more figures so I would have enough to get Duke since all my others went to Cobra Commander and maybe Major Bludd, I do not remember if he was out before Duke or not |

I never did.
I do remember a girl down the street got the fridge in the mail. I asked her how long it took to get it. She said " 6 to 8 weeks" but I thought she said "68 weeks"! What! I finally got my first fridge 25+ years later. "68 weeks" wouldn't have been so bad after all. |

The original Major Bludd mail-in offer required dated receipts and the cardback head shots of certain carded series 1 GI JOE figures (not the two cobras). Why not Flagg points? BECAUSE SCREW YOU KID, you have to buy new figures! Or something. I remember my brother getting the offer and not sending off for Bludd because it would mean rebuying figures he already had.
Years later Bludd was regular mail-in for a few years, after his retail release ended.

I am pretty certain that the outpost defender was sold at retail. I have one or two boxed ones.
