Does anyone here buy old bodies of the vehicles and start from scratch with them ? Like do them up and buy the pieces they are missing, doing them all up ?
Have been thinking about it, sounds like something I could get into too. |

Yea that's true, just that I keep seeing Tomahawk and WHALE bodies and it got me thinking, plus I wouldn't mind being alil more hands on, putting some of these things together and doing them up.

I do it all the time. I find bodys all the time and depending on what and how many parts i have I'll rebuild that vehicle. I also rebuild figures.

I'm working on a Mamba right now. All I need is the engine cover, the big bomb, the sidepod guns, exhaust pipe and tailfins. I pieced it together pretty cheap off Ebay. Minty Gyro-Viper complete with filecard and both sidepods for $7. Main body with working rotors for $6, almost all the missiles for $2.

Yea if I can get things for a good price it would really appeal to me, would love to get into doing up Joe and Cobra vehicles, especially the Tomahawk and WHALE.

I only do it once in a while... it ends up costing almost double.
It's cheaper to find one close to complete and finding the 1-2 missing pieces. This only works if you continually get multiple lots at great deals, and then eventually ending up with a complete vehicle.

Depending on the vehicle and the parts missing it can be cheaper. I have a Defiant I've rebuilt and I've only spent around $150 for it. Mind you I am missing one of the hardest to find parts (The revolving door) But I would have had it had I not been so cheap. I saw a lot of parts for $10 and I noticed a chair from the Defiant in it. I asked the guy if I could just buy the chair as I didn't want to spend $10 He said sure and by the time I realised half of the other parts in the lot went to the Defiant (Including the revolving door) he had already sold the lot.
The trick is buying up different lots of parts and selling off the parts you don't need. If you go out and only buy each part seperately, then yeah, you're gonna pay triple the price to rebuild the vehicle |
