I've fixed up a bunch of Zartan's over the last year or so, and going back to the original thread topic, Xacto knives aren't needed to fix Zartan. I saw a Youtube video where a guy took the screw out, then used a vice grip to create a strain on the glued seams (squeeze him at an angle). The plastic on his chest is very durable and flexible, so the glue pops off without too much work. If some parts don't come apart, you can use an Xacto, but that hasn't been necessary for me. I've been able to just pull and twist the body apart as needed. And I did this probably 10 times. Once he comes undone, Zartan can be re-assembled like any vintage Joe.

What most people dont know, is that if you put zartan in water to take off his o-ring to smooth the plastic, the plastic also loses his sun changing colors abilities, or at least they dominish a lot. Its a chemical on the plastic that does the job and the water wash it away if you put it in too long. Me and my friends learned that when we were kids. Leave it outside in the rain and it will do the same thing too. The best way for me was to take an exacto but you must be very careful because the torso shell usually cracks on the side near the waiste. I bought many 1984 Zartan over the years on ebay, and I usually prefer to buy one with an old o-ring that hasnt been touched, than one with new O-ring but doesnt change color anymore or has a cracked torso with small pieces missing if you check carefully. Beware of those ebay sellers on ebay saying their selling "mint" ones. Check for those things.
