Fortunately I remember exactly what I had in those 3 years I collected Joes when they first came out.
1982: Every figure except Steeler 1983 Every figure except glider pilots Grunt & Cobra 1984 Every figure except tan Clutch, Thunder, Deep Six, and Cutter For that matter, I also had every vehicle & accessory except those that coincide with the figures above, along with the Sears Missile Command Center.

The second year 1988 i was again very lucky through the year i got Beach Head, Hawk v2, Leatherneck, Mainframe, Lifeline, Sci Fi, Dial Tone, Iceberg, Roadblock v2, Wet Suit, Lift Ticket with Tomahawk, Devil Fish, Sgt Slaughter with Triple T, Cross Country and Havoc, Slipstream and Conquest, Dr Mindbender, Serpentor and Air Chariot, Monkeywrench, Zandar, Zarana, Thrasher with Thunder Machine Hyro Sled. I'm only going to post the figure that I grew up with when Joes were heavily used toys, not figures I got post-1995 when I started collecting in 2004...I think that's the purpose here:
Muskrat Voltar DeepSix v2 Downtown Gnawgahyde Stalker v2 Dogfight (lost in the 90's somewhere) Sgt. Slaughter v4 Spirit v2 Ambush Sub-Zero Big-Ben Tracker Red Star Dodger v2 Skymate v2 Interrogator General Flagg DeepSix v3 Nunchuk Roadpig v2 Rock 'n Roll v3 General Hawk v2 (lost in the 90's somewhere) Duke v4 Law v3 Mace Outback v4 Snow Storm v2 Nitro-Viper Clutch v3 Payload v3 Countdown v2 Lifeline v4 |

Some of you really had awesome collections as kids. I'm retro-jealous haha!
My first memory of them was in '84 after my family moved to a new house and I had a really great friend who had an older brother with drawers full of Joes and Star Wars, and another good friend who had a Flagg set up in his garage, but it took a few years before I actually owned any myself. That changed with the Rattler as a Christmas present from my grandfather in '86. Random memory alert: I remember putting the plane together while watching Enemy Mine on TV. After that, I sporadically accumulated through 1988 to another huge birthday with a Defiant from my dad (spent his bonus money that year). This was also around the time I could start buying toys for myself but alas, just when the line started to lose steam. The last 4 I remember picking up at a local CVS. Last one was Recoil. Thanks for the memory trip, I had forgotten some of those. Childhood most played Joes Beachhead Flint Quick Kick Most played Cobra: BAT Mindbender Road Pig Runner-ups: Hardball Recoil Zanzibar Battle Armor CC Crimson Twins Voltar Crystal Ball HEAT Viper Hydro Viper Drivers: Wild Weasel Ice Viper Payload Hardtop

Like Breaker, Baroness and Duke and how you got the Grunt mail away figure in '87... |

I can't remember all that I had, but my first two were straight arm Grunt and RnR. Next came Snake Eyes or Flash, can't remember which. My last one was Topside, my little brother bought it for me when I was at the academy.
