So I have an ARAH Zandar whose o-ring is broken. YoJoe.com says that his body is molded into one piece. Does anyone know if he can be taken apart without severe damage? I haven't even tried since haven't bought any o-rings yet. Also where is the best place to buy them?

There are different ways this can be done, but in most cases cutting the torso is required.
When this happened to one of my Zartan figures I just used a box cutter razor blade to cut along the seam in order to pry the two halves of the torso apart. Others have suggested boiling the torso first, or using a hair dryer or heat gun in order to soften the glue. Be sure to remove the screw first if you plan in using the boiling method to keep it from rusting.

As far as the O-rings go you can get them on ebay, any online store that sells G.I. Joe replacement parts or accessories, and also at hardware stores. If you go to a hardware store just make sure you have the right size first. I don't remember off hand, but I think they are size 8 or 9. Some sizes work better than others depending on the year. Oh and you might want to pick up an X-acto knife in order to cut the torso along the seam.

Thanks for the info. I wanted some input before I started the operation. I kind of thought that YoJoe had to be wrong about it being molded as one piece otherwise they couldn't assemble it.

It is only glued. Same exact thing happened to my Zandar. I removed the screw, boiled in water, and cut apart with surgical scissors. When I was done I didn't have to re-glue just put the screw back in.

By the way I don't know if you've ever noticed it before, but molded onto and into the torso halves are 2 small pegs on one half, and 2 small holes on the other half.
When I cut my Zartan apart I accidentally cut those pegs off of one half and they were left stuck in their holes of the other half. Even though that "damaged" the figure, once the torso halves are screwed back together you won't notice them. I think they were intended to keep the torso halves from shifting side to side during assembly, but once the arms and head are added it doesn't seem as if the torso halves could really shift anyways.

This makes me wonder, what was the point of gluing those figures together anyway? What was it about the color change function that made this a requirement?
