I was just going through an old box that I've had in storage for the past 15 years or so to look for an old H.I.S.S. II Tank.
Since it was one of the last vehicles that my brother and I got I figured that it would be in better condition than the rest of the vehicles we had. It was, but it still needed a bit of a cleaning. As I was carefully taking it apart I noticed that some of it was assembled incorrectly. The front hinge of the body bottom was never flipped up and turned into the body, and both of the axel wheels were put into the wrong tabs. One axel wheel has a ring on it which fits into a slot undneath the body. The other doesn't. I don't know how these things were missed back in the day, but I'm going to have to blame my brother since I think it was his and he's not as compulsive as I am. In any case I put everything back together as per the instructions, but the front hinge had a hard time being put in place. In fact I'm worried that the pressure it is now putting on the main body might crack it over time. Has anyone else here ever encountered a problem like these so many years later after the original build of a vehicle? By the way I found everything but one of the black seat belt clips which I thought was still attatched to the Track Vipers waist, but unfortunately it wasn't. I'll check the bottom of that box once I go back to my storage unit, to look for it but I'll probably just end up getting one off ebay.

I've had to do that with a lot of vehicles I've gotten off ebay. The small guns on the turret of the SM Equalizer were put in upside down. That was stressful trying to very carefully take the turret apart. Most recently I got the road toad and the spool for the tow cable had been put in backwards, I thought I was gonna break it trying to get it out.

Got my original ASP when I was a kid back in 1984. It wasn't until 2013 that I found out I put the "legs" under the tow hook on backwards.

when I got my AWE Striker as a kid, I put the two halves together before the axles. It took forever to fix that mistake.

I don't remember using the fantail railing for my Flagg more than once after I first assembled it in March 1986 and I honestly didn't recall what the y-pins were for until I restored it a few years ago. Because of that disregard as a kid, those pieces were lost to Joe antiquity. Fortunately they were not too expensive themselves to replace as I pirated them from another Flagg that was complete in 2008 for $425 that was missing only the fuel trailer and elevator support, but came with everything else including a bagged Keel-Haul.

Had a Fang II that the rotors were loose. Turns out the wing assembly was assembled wrong. I managed to fix it. Chin gun was upside down too.

Restored an ASP only to find out months later that the original owner put the cannons on upside-down. The blast shields wouldn't snap on.
Received a BattleForce 2000 Eliminator Jeep and noticed both axles were put on upside-down, making the wheels rub the frame. I carefully pried it open and flipped them around. As a kid I accidentally removed the center bit of the guns on the Polar Battle Bear, despite instructions saying to leave that part on. Most Polar Battle Bears I run into now-a-days are also like that. Most SHARCs I pry open are missing the Styrofoam pieces, so most kids must have thought they weren't part of the vehicle.

Never with a vehicle, but it wasn't until 25th Battle Armor CC came out that I realized I had been putting the backpack of the original on upside down since '87

By the way did the 25th SHARC have the Styrofoam in it? I never opened mine, but now I'm curious. I'm guessing it doesn't, but I could be wrong.

edit: my 25th sharc didn't have Styrofoam, I think it's glued together I could only get it to open so far I wanted to put the old sharc Styrofoam blocks in it. |
