Thinking back, it would have to be Steeler and the MOBAT, because it was motorized, and no one lived when Steeler came to town. If you were in the way of the MOBAT, sorry about your luck.

Ahhhh,...It was summer of '82, my father was a Sgt. in the Army at the time, and he came home one day with the MMS w/ SA Hawk. I remember looking at that orignal check list for hours and wanting to, no needing to have every thing listed!

We got a small handful of Joes for Christmas '82, but me and my brother were still mostly into Star Wars and Masters of the Universe. Right before Transformers became a big thing I decided that the one Cobra trooper we owned wasn't enough, so looking through the pegs at a McDade's (competitor to Service Merchandise) I decided I had to have Scrap Iron. Dad was cool with it, and that kicked off 29 years of ARAH awesomeness for me.

For sure, that was how I got most of mine.
I would save lunch and chore money and usually pick one or two guys up at a Kroger we had in town on grocery day. Looking back, it was amazing that tha grocery store usually had full pegs of the entire years run at all times. You could get ANY character in production you wanted, could plan ahead for the next trip and pretty well be sure everyone would be there. |

I remember I bought a Roadblock with my allowance and my cousin snapped his o-ring. I cried so much because I actually paid for him. My mom, being the caring woman she is, took my joe to my aunt and explained that I had to work very hard to get Roadblock (yes, my Mother knew all their names) and my aunt, instead of giving me the money, took me to Kmart where I bought a new Roadblock AND my first Cobra Viper. I played with them both in the car. The packages didn't even make it to the parking lot.

Another perfect use of the Roadblock mold. We're getting as bad as Hasbro about reusing molds lately!! davisT78 tells it like it is. BST: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ml#post4306869 BST Feedback: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/buy-se...t-reviews.html |
