Be very, very careful with mouse poop... it could carry the Haunta Virus. No joke.
It's very fragile. The red guns on the gantry, the steps on the side of the gantry are fragile. My lift gear is broken and won't raise or lower on it's own. I would probably not even try to raise and lower it with the crank. I built a rolling platform for it to sit on because it's super heavy on the gantry wheels. So, it would seem that the gantry is the biggest concern. I did crank it up once, but removed the shuttle/booster and did the heavy lifting with my hand. So, you can just lift it up by hand without engaging the crank? I have not really been able to find clear enough pictures of the mechanism to know what's going on underneath. One of the rear wheel arms is already snapped, so I will have to see if I can't do some drill/pin repairs. The coolest bit is that I am getting duplicates of the shuttle and booster. One set is really beat up, so I am planning to do a Cobra custom. I have seen a Python Patrol version that gave me the idea, though I will probably go Cobra Blue on it. Since they are missing all the guns and fins and whatnot, I will probably go nuts and add a lot of weaponry and missiles. Man, I am so stoked to have this thing. I have actually added all three of the trinity (Flagg, Defiant, Terrordrome) to my collection in the last month. For some reason I have managed to luck into them at great prices that I couldn't pass up, though I am beyond broke now for a while. Hopefully this is not the burst of good luck before something bad happens...

Here's a question for all of you Defiant owners:
Are you going to get the life sized Defiant poster from 3DJoes? |

I got my defiant home, and man was it a chore. One complete set and an unasembled booster and shuttle are monstrous. I was not prepared for how much space that takes up, and it seemed to grow as I took the filthy set apart. The mouse mess was nasty, but there was no gnawing. After a deep scrub the parts are awaiting a few repairs and some repro decals. I toyed with leaving the unassembled stuff alone, but that lasted a whole 3 seconds. They were already out of the box, so not a big decision. Plus, this has made all the remaining unbuilt ones worth a little bit more! I must say, popping parts off the tree and assembling it made me miss the classic era even more. It has been like Christmas 1987 redux!
Edit: added a shot with the gantry. At this point, the only things I need are the big side radiator boxes, Hard Top's gun, a replacement for one of the under-hanging guns, and the umbilical for the shuttle. Honestly, having them side by side, the Defiant holds up well against the Flagg. The Flagg is more iconic and well-known, but the Defiant has more going on. It's just a shame the plastic is so weak.

You can use a piece of 10 gauge wire as the umbilical cord. The other items, minus the pistol, are easily found on eBay.

Has anyone done anything to support the doors when they are open? I was thinking of constructing some sort of supports so that when they are open, there is something to rest on instead of all the weight pulling at the hinges.

Alright so...this is my first post on here and I don't know all the ins and outs about what you can or cannot ask for talk about here but I didn't see any other obvious forum thread to ask this, and needed to get right to the people that have the defiant on here. So yeah I'm looking for the following parts for my Defiant build. Not interested in anything broken or fixed. I'm not on the forums often so it'd be better to email me at [email protected] if you got what I'm looking for, pm here as well. We can discus price if I like what I see that you got, thanks.

I am very stoked and very proud to report that I can FINALLY count myself among those few, the proud, the elite, the Defiant owners! Just picked one up last weekend. I'm currently in the process of disassembling and cleaning. It is a b****!!! As I go through, I'm coming across pieces that I need--does anyone on here still have parts left over from their re-builds?

Anyone know if you can remove the galley bay/base from the crawler without it being broken?
