Ah, I see. Not to sound pistol-ist, but...they all look the same to me. I mean, not literally the same, but close enough I would easily have mistaken that for any one of a number of other pistols (I could swear I have a gold colored one of those somewhere, for example).
Well, in that case, congratulations!

The level of detail is simply amazing.
The tape is simply holding the cockpit glass in place while I get it bent back into shape.

So the seller has a complete Hardtop he was selling on its own and I am going to be honest and see if this pistol is his... If he happened to drop it while unpacking the Defiant, I'd hate for him to lose $$$ when he goes to sell Hardtop. So I sent him a message to see if he still has his Hardtop's pistol. If not, I'll return it to him, if he does have one, bonus for me.

My glass is bent the same way. I wonder if placing it in hot water would help.... I would be surprised if anything worked after how long it's been warped now

So he has a complete Payload, not Hardtop... but he still wants it. He'll trade me a vehicle for it, so a vehicle for a pistol isn't a bad trade.

Man this thing is in wonderful condition. This was the most enjoyable Joe piece I restored by far. I was so excited and had a blast.

Would applying something to bond to the Defiant's brittle parts like an epoxy resin be of any use do you think? Perhaps to the underside or unseen sides of the parts?
The idea of the larger parts shattering is scary as hell, I would love to know if there are any preventive things to reduce the chances of this occurring. |

Not sure, but he did have an incomplete Rolling Thunder that would be nice to restore.

I always warn individuals online who do the peroxide treatment that is highly likely the item WILL re-yellow again. And in most cases, even worse than the original yellowing. Once an item has yellowed, the chemical process is irreversible. So it doesn't matter if you keep it out of light and in pure darkness 24/7. The peroxide treatment only removes the top most layer that is yellowed; however, the whole plastic is undergoing a whole chemical change, so the newly exposed "white" layers are going to yellow with time. Even if you were to top coat the top layer against exposure, it also would not matter or help. The entire plastic is going through a chemical change.
When people tell me that their items are fine and have not yellowed, it's because the change time is variable and it just hasn't happened again [yet]. |
