When did the ARAH era start to lose you?
Not based on your age but interest in the figures from design and concept. For me, it started very specifically in 1991. That was the year the neons and fluorescents took center stage. Although there were a few solid figures like Big Ben, Red Star and Heavy Duty, for the most part the brand began a running start on its way to jumping the shark. Fingers crossed... the few throwback designs they are still trying out (Iceberg, Saw Viper, Frag Viper Commander) will not start a trend in the wrong direction.

When I first saw the vehicles for 1986 I remember thinking to myself, "Wow some of these are getting cheesy and stupid".

I would have to say 90-91 with the birth of neon. I was looking forward to ninja force but the stupid spring action crap ruined those figures.
Around that time almost all the vehicles had no appeal and the figs were starting to get a little crazy. |

1987 would be the year they lost me... In part. Just too many ridiculous concepts in the lineup. With a few exceptions.
It could be argued that Serpentor was the turning point. Though, I like Serpentor. |

Age was the deciding factor, otherwise I probably would have still bought them to the end. There's a stigma attached to toys unfortunately and in your teens you get made fun of. However I did start to lose interest with the Eco Warriors and DEA stuff in 1991 or so. 1990 was the last year I bought anything.
As an adult I still get made fun of, but it's a hobby for me. My brother is really into the Broncos, he wears their shirts, hats, has stickers on his truck, watches the games, etc... I don't see the difference. |

I was there for the start in 1982. By 1989, I checked out on the vehicles but stayed with the figures. I never really stopped but took a break in 1990. I remember walking through a TRU in the 1992 or 1993 and thinking to my self, yuk.

I was also a fan of Serpentor. At the time I knew just enough about DNA (thanks 4th grade Science class) to buy into him.
The snake suit is way over the top but I think they idea still works.

For me it was also age that primarily made me lose interest but I also started to not care nearly as much about the line in general around 88. Pretty sure the Mamba was about the last vehicle I bought.

I 100% agree with this. In fact, I think sports are almost worse because at least we don't hide the fact that our interests are childish.
