Card art - Make a sailor and have him not doing any sailory things. Generic. 4/10. If I didn't know it was official, I'd think it was a fan creation or lifted from something like THE CORPS.
Figure sculpt + colours - Sculpt is plain, no strapped on gear, Vest is fine, quilted. Boots are typical kind of embellished just because. That rope belt...is Topside Ellie May Clampett? A mediocre head sculpt is lost in yellow paint. Sculpt 6/10. Colors 5/10 Weapons + accessories - Has a decent gun he can hold. That's good. The pack is just...why does he have a missile launcher? Why not something navy related? the removable helmet is good and fit well from what I recall. Extra missile is nice, I guess if you lose one. 6/10 Memories from your youth - Appeared to late to make an impact with me. i like the idea of more Navy non-diver characters, but Topside seems generic. DIC cartoon didn't do much to help him. Overall 5/10 |

card art: im fine with it.
fkigure sculpt and colors: everything is good but the boots. the straps around hte ankles are too thick. not into the idea of a character on a special mission team is wearing sweatpants with a rope that does nothing tied around them. i dont like his torso. it's both fat and not fat at the same time. accessories: the helmet is oversized and looks bad. the gun is oversized. the backpack is the only shining thing. there's liek an added feature im too lazy to look up right now. i dont have any childhood memories. no one in my friend group had him and i got him when i was older and seriously collecting 87-90 (and then 91). the figure idea looks cool, but hte execution of the sculpt isnt so great. i dont use this figure and because of the parts only working with each other (the knees and upper legs seat into the lowers only) and never needing a flat topped head, i have never used his parts for customs. probably a 3/10 |
