I was talking about how I store my Joes in another thread and someone asked for pics, so here goes!
How I store my 1988-1994 Joes: Here's a shot of four Jumbo Cases, holding 90-91, 92-93 (part1), 93 (part2), and 94. Here's the 90-91 Jumbo Case. Here's the 90-91 case opened. I use the full file cards to keep the Joes in each section as I open and close the case. They basic fit all normal 1990 line figs top left, sub branded 1990 figs bottom left, normal 1991 line figs top right, sub branded 1991 figs bottom right. Figures stand upright in a small sandwich bag with their file card, all accessories and a note card. I use the notecard to annotate year, figure number, and name. |

One word of advice: I've heard storing figures in normal ziplock bags can lead to discoloration (the bags are slightly acidic).

Really, I'm not going to worry about it. No one really knows what causes the plastic to turn colors. Some pieces change while other pieces of the same color next to those pieces don't. I'm thinking its more about the plastic mix than the acidity of a ziplock bag. But again, no one knows and I'm just ignoring it. As long as they are in a dry and climate controlled environment, and kept out of direct sunlight then I'm happy. |

Yeah,
The purple/Blue seal Ziploc are actually pretty good bags, I haven't seen any problems with those. However, Those Blue/Green seal bags does cause discoloration, I have personally seen it. I don't even know if those are a Ziploc brand or not. Thanks, Everett

I am starting to think it is the batch. I find it odd that only certain colors would discolor but others won't. If it was all forms of colors, then I would assume it was the ziplocs.

http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...owing-wtf.html and Rockhammer's post: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...ml#post4123304 Basically, the yellowing we commonly see is most likely not due to storing them in plastic bags. However, there is some concern that if you store them in non "acid-free" bags for a long time, there might be some damage. How long? Nobody knows. There are people that have stored their figures in regular old zipper bags for 30 years and haven't had any damage. It might take 1000 years for damage to show. |

I don't plan on being around that long. But it would suck if I found all my Joes were discolored after storing them for 1,000 years.

So if I have them buried with me they should or should not be in a ziplock?
