Breaking news!
We just completed an interview with the G.I.Joe brand team (Halle, Paul, Ben and Lenny) and Chris McLeod (of The Full Force podcast). The Cliff’s Notes are below, and my favorite announcement is at the end: Classified: They are well aware of the distribution issues, especially with the Target Cobra Island exclusives. It was a combination of underestimating demand and Covid related manufacturing and distribution challenges. They ARE planning re-runs and re-issues (like the Cobra Trooper exclusive —> Cobra Infantry non-exclusive release). They ARE considering vehicles but want to make sure they can do them well. News and announcements are coming in June! (six weeks out) Retro: more figures are coming, they would not confirm the wave 4 leak, or who those characters might be. They did not mention more vehicles, although we didn’t have time to ask. Movie: $9.99 figures will differentiate from the $19.99 figures both in articulation, action feature ($9.99 has them, $19.99 does not), AND packaging. $9.99 will come on blister cardbacks, while $19.99 will remain in boxes. $9.99 artwork will be more uniform and movie inspired (not yet shown), while $19.99 artwork (already shown) continues the Classified packaging tradition of commissioning a unique artist for each package. VINTAGE/CLASSIC figures: O-ring is NOT dead! They DO hear your calls for O-ring figures on social. They find it exciting and makes them want to push to make it a reality. Keep up the chatter, they are listening! One item of note: the four Hasbro folks on the line with us today were very nice, genuinely enthusiastic fans of G.I.Joe. They read what you write, so please be kind to the four people on this planet that are most likely to give us what we’d like to see when it comes to the future of G.I.Joe! Stay tuned for a full recap with Chris and Carson on the Full Force this Saturday! |

Yeah, I really hate the way YoJoe resets the version numbers with any change to a character name. Neither "General Hawk" nor "Lt. Falcon" should be a v1. They're the same characters as Hawk and Falcon.
Where this might get messy, unfortunately, is something like Heavy Metal changing his code name to Rampage. They have the same file name and are the same character, but it seems weird to call Rampage "v2" when there's no prior figure called Rampage. Likewise, The Sky Patrol figure called Airborne is a different character than the original Airborne. Should he be v2 or should they both be v1? Issues like that become tough judgment calls. Quote:

Ace also mysteriously changed his file name from Brad Armbruster to Wendell Armbruster and his birth place from Providence RI to Seattle WA for the v2 figure in 1992, but the card says that he's "the original fighter-jock jet driver of the G.I. Joe Team," which implies that he's the same character. Stupid inconsistencies like this are very frustrating.

The Guy Cassaday Creator Profile page is HERE!
https://www.3djoes.com/guy-cassaday.html Guy Cassaday was one of Hasbro's most productive vehicle designers. He worked on G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero's from 1985-1990. The 1986 Conquest X-30 was his first vehicle, and he soon went on to be labeled "The King of the big vehicles" after designing the 1987 Mobile Command Center. This name stuck, and he went on to design the 1988 Rolling Thunder, the 1990 Hammerhead, and the 1990 The General. He didn't just design big vehicles though, he also designed Serpentor's Air Chariot, the Dreadnok Swampfire, the Coastal Defender, the Persuader, the Skystorm, all four 1989 Battlefield Robots, and more. Some of his canceled designs have also generated tremendous buzz in the community, such as the Cobra Sub and the Cobra Island playset. Read on to learn about his impressive contributions to the brand. This Creator Profile was created by Carson Mataxis of 3DJoes and Chris Murray of Joe Declassified. We would like to thank Guy Cassaday, Kevin Watts, Page and Greg Wagner, and David Gildersleeve for their contributions. PLEASE front page this news, this is months of work and Guy's work deserves the attention! Last edited by 3DJoes; 06-12-2021 at 02:02 PM.. |

Say, I wanted to ask as if there's a feature that could be considered for the future? I tend to use 3D Joes for the blueprint scans as far as sticker placement when doing vehicle restorations. However, some scans don't really have enough resolution to make out what the sticker is. Would it be possible to have some enlarged scans of the sticker placement sections with greater detail?
Also, will you be offering further editions of the art books as hard copies? I would love to be able to get some of these but hadn't found them until they were sold out the first time. Thank you! |

Been reading Guy Cassadays's page - amazing!
He was the desinger of some of my all tim favorite vehicles: the Conquest and MCC My dad was a WWII buff (being born in 1945) and didn't know much about toys - but when he was the iconic nose paint on the X-30 he went out of his way to make sure to get it for me. I think Roses had the MCC on sale in and ad that I showed to my mom - one of the best Christmas presents ever! I love reading all the ins and outs of the designs. Truly Mr. Cassady was a major contributor to the ARAH we all know and love! Small request - can we get scroll over the MCC designs (like the other pics)? Would love to see that Steamroller art better! Last edited by Dod Ear; 06-14-2021 at 10:28 AM.. |
