Hard to disagree with that logic. I wonder why they are shown as 1993 figures and vehicles on YoJoe, but shown on the 1994 cross-sell catalog and cardbacks?
https://www.yojoe.com/action/93/ 1993 Hasbro Toy Fair - Parry Game Preserve In all fairness, release dates were getting a LOT more fluid in the 90s. Remember, the insert for the 1991 Lifeline mail away featured dominantly 1992 product. It would not surprise me if stuff started to follow a “fall to spring” release schedule rather than the “winter to winter” schedule toy lines tended to follow in the 80s. Quote:
I'm not likely to include those lines, ever. Just because pieces and parts were used that were originally used with G.I.Joe doesn't mean they deserve inclusion in a G.I.Joe: ARAH archive. Think of the Bronze Bombers or Stargate (and I'm sure there's plenty of other "cousins" that borrowed vehicles, figures, and accessories from the ARAH mold library). These are not items I'm interested in collecting, documenting, or archiving. They aren't "Joe." You'd have to create a more compelling argument than "they share some parts" to sway me.

I can understand Carson wanting to limit his site to strictly official G.I. Joe toys and not get too far into the weeds regarding other products that happened to use Hasbro's G.I. Joe assets. That can get very convoluted very quickly, and would be difficult to ever be truly comprehensive.
I am still curious how he feels about Cobra Infiltrate Jinx, though. |

I’m suspecting they were “late additions” to the 1993 line, much like how the Tiger Force line was omitted in the 1988 catalog. They likely continued shipping in 1994 (justifying the cross sell) along with the impending release of the Street Fighter feature film. Parry Game Preserve has images of the 1993 Toy Fair catalog, featuring the addition of Street Fighter 2 to the Joe ranks.

Fair enough. Though, I DO think some sort of mention is perhaps warranted in regards to some figures (like Sonya Blade or many of the Guile variants) that are a simple head swap from a prior figure since Hasbro didn’t change copyright/trademark information very often on those old molds. Not a detailed archive, but a mention on the site with the respective figures that they were largely reused for another, non joe branded, product line and maybe a link to Yojoe for additional details?

The more I hear about the 1993 convention (and all of the official Hasbro guests), the more it feels like those convention figures were official product. Do you have any good resources that would spell that out clearly for me? |

Back in 1985 Hasbro teamed up with Ralston to release G.I.Joe Action Stars Cereal. Action Stars cereal boxes were released in two waves. Each wave featured three boxes and six total boxes were released. The first wave featured Duke, Gung-Ho and Shipwreck, while the second wave featured Flint, Quick Kick and Starduster. Wave 1 boxes had a very "Live the Adventure" feel and featured a top-secret mission briefing, a cut and fold mission element, and a personalized camouflage t-shirt offer. Wave 2 boxes featured a top-secret mission briefing, a Starduster offer, and a G.I.Joe Mini-Comic insert. Check out high resolution cereal box scans, a buyer’s sample box, the TV commercial, coupons, all three mini-comics, 360 photos, and more at: 1985 Action Stars Cereal - 3DJoes 3DJoes is rolling, after calling in reinforcements. A HUGE thank you to Dan Moore for putting this amazing page together, and Page and Greg Wagner for their contributions. |

YoJoe does say: "It is a Hasbro authorized custom figure produced by James DeSimone as an exclusive figure for the 1993 G.I.Joe Collector's Club Convention." https://www.yojoe.com/action/convention/jinx93.shtml That differs from the listings for the Police Officer and Race Car Driver, which specifically say they were not endorsed by Hasbro. |

Hmm, I mostly just remember what was talked about in the collector community at the time.

However, regardless of its quality or merits, my understanding has always been that Hasbro endorsed the figure as an official G.I. Joe product. |

The card was indeed atrocious...but what do you mean by the proselytizing crack?
