I tried a search but surprisingly didn't see this topic...
I recently decided I would finally try to replace some O-rings... I bought the bag of them from the collector's club. I was a little surprised how small they were (smaller than a dime), but figured they must be pretty stretchable. After spending 20 minutes trying to do the first figure (an Eco Warriors Sludge Viper) I looked it up on YouTube and came across this video: The o-ring the guys is using is at least twice the size of the ones the club sent. No wonder I can't fit them in. Is the club sending the wrong size o-rings??? How on Earth is that possible?? Help! (Thanks) |

I'm not completely surprised there isn't a topic on this on this site. The members of this site have a focus on the modern stuff over the vintage. The site itself has only been around for about 5 years to my knowledge. The subject of how to replace o-rings had been long established on other sites for so long that no one bothered touching on it here.
It's unfortunate you got the o-rings from the collector's club. I believe they got them directly from Hasbro. While that sounds like it would be a good thing, Hasbro often used o-rings that were too small in the later years of the o-ring figure designs. They also are made of a different material it seems. That means that they didn't stretch out over time, they just broke. I have replaced far more o-rings in figures made in the last 10 years than I ever did with vintage figures. Many of my vintage figures still have their original o-ring. Hasbro just started using cheap, undersized o-rings which you likely got from the club. Places like Smalljoes.com and several different eBay sellers sell good o-rings that hold up as well as the vintage ones. They are also the right size. Next time you get some, try one of those places. They are also cheaper than the club is. |

Places like Home Depot and Lowe's also sell them in their plumbing department, that's where I got all mine. They have a buch of sizes and you can experiment to which size works for you.

"next time" will be very soon for me... I can't use the ones from the club at all. In fact, when I put one of them just over the peg in the back there is almost no slcak... I can't imagine being able to stetch it far enough to get it down to the legs.
Anybnody have a size number to use? Thanks! |

I don't know what number size to use, but I ordered a hundred from small joes and they work great. Also, they're cheap, I think I paid less than ten dollars after shipping.

The rings from SmallJoes really helped me out when fixing my O-ring figures I've gotten from online sellers. I've stockpiled for the future.
