I got $2.00 a week for doing chores that I used to buy most of the figures I wanted. I got vehicles and play sets on things like my birthday and Christmas.

I did get figures from my Grandma for good grades. And my parents would often buy me figures at the store if I'd been good, or kept up on my chores.

At first I started getting them for my Birthday and Christmas and with my birthday money. Once i started earning an allowance I would occasionally have my dad take me to TRU to buy a few things or ride my bike to the grocery store to see what was on the peg there.

I want to say my weekly allowance bought me one or two joes a week. Vehicles and whatnot came at birthdays and Christmas.

Started out with my mom buying me figures every once in a while plus a few small vehicles on my birthday. Christmas was a pretty good haul of bigger stuff. Changed over in the 6th grade when I got my paper routes. From that point on I bought every figure and every vehicle that came out for myself with the exception of the Terrordrome my mother got me for Christmas one year.

My Grandma got me one joe almost every weekend from 1984 – 1986. She took me to buy them at JC Penny or Children’s Palace (was like a Toys R us). Before that my grandfather worked for a drug store and brought me home a star wars or joe figure once a week. I never army built. I don’t remember ever getting a joe figures for X-mas or my B-day, but I had a few vehicles so I may have gotten them at that time.
Now my Grandma is 92 and tries to buy my 6 year old son a toy every chance she gets. He gets Legos thou. I love her very much. If it wasn’t for her and my Grandfather I would not have had many joes or stars figures growing up. They got me an Atari for X-mas one year too. Last edited by sonoftimmy; 04-26-2012 at 10:03 AM.. |

For Christmas, Easter & Birthdays. Other than the U.S.S. Flagg, my twin brother and I received all of the 1982 -1985 figures, vehicles, books, coloring books, Halloween Costumes, etc to share. We were pretty lucky back then. Same had went for M.A.S.K.
