Thanks guy for sharing your stories. As I was reading them I was smiling because they made me think of all the great times I had as a kid playing with my Gi Joes

I received the SLAM from a fellow classmate. She was nice, but we never really hung out and I was surprised she even came to the party at all. She was the only kid that got me a Joe toy because she knew I was a big fan of them, and I became a big fan of hers after that.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was always my first love, but after that ended, it was all GI Joe ARAH. Between those two, the 80s were awesome for me. In spite of the way the properties are treated now (both by the companies that own them and the general public) I still love them both. Nothing will beat getting that vintage figure in the mail that you never had as a kid. Which is why I buy so much vintage stuff.

Growing up, GIJoe was the main (and favourite) toys for my brother and I.
Sure, we also had a ton of He-Man figures, Legos, Construx, Star Wars and some Transformers, but the Joes and Cobras were always our favourites, hands down. Since we never got too many Joe vehicles, we commandeered Star Wars ships (Millenium Falcon, Slave 1, Rebel Snowspeeder, TIE fighter, etc) for the Joes and Cobras to use. Vehicle-wise, I had a Cobra Night Raven, Sky Hawk (VTOL) and VAMP jeep, while my bro had the APC, Rattler and a HISS tank. My first figs were swivel arm Cobra Officer, Grunt, Flash, and Destro, while my brother got Major Bludd & Gung-Ho. When I was 13 years old we had a big garage sale and sold about 90% of our Joe stuff away (big mistake). I never really wanted to get rid of my stuff, but was worried that it might be perceived as "uncool" by my friends, and potential girlfriends. I also remember wanting cash for SNES video games and a wicked RC vehicle. To think, that first Cobra Officer figure started a long-standing enjoyment (perhaps obsession at times) with GIJoe.
