Chinafigures finally put some stuff up on eBay again and these are among them. One of them is a repaint of the 1986 Motor-Viper, but nothing is mentioned about it on yojoe.com.

These were released originally, back in the Galoob, kenner era.. basically used the same molds as the A-Team figures.. Then after Joe was no more they got the molds for some of the figures and made this set. I only saw them at TRU .. Think they were around between 96-97? I could be wrong..

you completely sure about that because i think you where looking the wrong places
YOJOE.COM | Bronze Bombers - 1988 YOJOE.COM | Bronze Bombers - 1997 and from yojoe "In 1988, the toy company Olmec - specializing in African-American themed toys - released a line of 3 3/4" G.I.Joe-like action figures named the Bronze Bombers. The action figures touted, "They stand for justice, and they never lose!" While the project was very ambitious and produced interesting toys, unfortunately the figures did not match up with the quality of the Hasbro counterparts. In 1995, Olmec purchased several 3 3/4" G.I.Joe action figure molds from Hasbro - all the molds were vehicle drivers. The villains were unchanged and recolored, while the heroes were recolored and given newly sculpted heads. After many delays, the Bronze Bombers finally reached Toys R Us shelves in late 1997. They were very popular with 3 3/4" G.I.Joe collectors and quickly disappeared from toy shelves." |

I only looked under Motor-Viper in the figure files because that was the only mold I recognized. I had never heard of or saw these before.

Yeah, I've heard about those. I think they're pretty awesome! I'd love to get some. They're really neat I think.

Tell me about it. Virtually any toy from the mid-late 90's that's now rare or sought after I clearly remember hitting my local TRU in droves at the time. Most of the time I ignored them or just picked up whatever I wanted for myself.
Now I could've been selling thousands of dollars worth of toys....

I had about 6 of the Bronze Bombers from 1988 carded awhile back. I won them in a lot with a carded 1985 Snow Serpent. I figured out what they were but I didnt have too much interest in them. The cardbacks were a little creased and bent, I eventually unloaded them.
Yeah, I remember seeing the 12 pack in the late 90's - shoulda, woulda, coulda. |
