I know I have some of the old catalogs somewhere at my parents. Lord knows where, but I am sure that they are lingering somewhere in a box, or case. I just haven't had the time to look for them despite my growing desire to relive my childhood. Here is the thing; check out ebay (I know I know) for old Joe catalogs. People have starting bids of five bucks and BIN for ten bucks a pop! Not to mention then they want two, three or four bucks to send it! Sweet Christmas, what are people thinking? I mean, good for them if they can get it... I feel sorry for the people who actually buy them.
I can't wait for 2032 when I can sell all 57 of my ROC inserts for ten bucks a shot w/ 4 bucks shipping. That's close to 800 bucks cold hard cash. If anyone wants to get in on this deal early, I will sell them for five bucks a pop with only 2 bucks for shipping. That's half off people! |

I dont really get it either. I do like having these catalogs, but I would never buy them on their own. They are neat and cool to have but I dont see too much value in them. Ive picked them up in collections and stuff like that. And if someone wanted one of my extras I would probably look for a small part trade or maybe 2 bucks tops, not 5.

The common ones are cheap ($1-2). Some of the more difficult ones can fetch upwards of &10+. I doubt the ROC catalogs will ever command close to that.

I am guessing just because of the rarity (I mean, as kids, we probably didn't save catalogs the way that we cut out filecards or saved blueprints) and the fact that as paper products they just don't hold up.
When you get someone who is a completist they'll drop that cash just to get their hands on that catalog... and then promptly bag and board it or something. :P

Ephemera is weird when it comes to action figure collecting. Most of us like it but then in turn do not display them so it just goes into a drawer.
I really dig the paper material from the 80s and 90s mostly for the cool photos of the toys.

Another thing I can't believe is that out of 100+ views only four people responded. Is everyone on the 'Tank selling their old catalogs for 10 bucks or something? |
