...so highly sought after? I just can't see it - it's a big, big, big carrier and it's got a lot of neato things I guess, but what's the appeal of it? That it was the biggest Joe toy ever made? That it was the most expensive? That you could keep a few smaller jets / helicopters on it? Is it "just something every hardcore collector needs"? I don't get it, it boggles my mind. Halp me understand u gais! >.>

It is the biggest Joe toy ever made. It was the most expensive. It looks kickass to. You could have been the envy of all ur friends back in the day if ur parents bought you that i guess.

I don't really understand it either. It is the pinnacle of all joe items, but it doesn't look like it would get much play value. I have never had a Flagg though, so maybe it is cooler than what it looks like it would be...

HEY A Tanker from AK!!! MY HOME STATE! HOWDY! I don't have one of these but I think the appeal is a carry-over from our youth. This was the crown Jewel of the GI JOE mythos in 1985. Every kid wanted the biggest and the best toys, not only to play with, but to impress their peers as well. As adults (man-children), we still have that feeling of having it all and impressing our peers so it becomes an even hotter item due to it's age and rareness and our deeper pocketbooks as "adults". I would love to have one, if I had a much larger house but I simply can't justify it right now. Maybe it could double as a coffee-table....
I was born in '86, and I'd never even heard of this badboy until I hopped on the Tank. My neighbor was about my age and he got Joes too, but never anything larger than the Patriot, and no one ever really discussed GI Joe at school. I only ever really had a few Joes - Didn't watch the cartoon and didn't read the comics, and eventually I stopped getting them (think my last toys were the battle copters with Major Altitude and Interrogator). In fact, I think I only bought them because my dad was Army and I thought Army guys were the sh!t And yar, I've known you grew up here too man, was just waiting for you to take note of my location xD But yes, it's neat, and if I had a son or daughter I might consider buying a remake of this sucker for him/her, but by itself, no. |

Bigger is better....
Size does matter.... This is America and if I don't have at least one of every damn big thing then I am just not American enough! |

LOL, a coffee stand. To be honest that's probably what mine would turn into if I ever got one (I never will, and I know my fiancee would have a fit).

You mentioned in another thread concerning lost/stolen Joes that you went to a bible camp and such up here, had a bucket of them and some little punks got into and stole yours, and then you paid them back with the wrath of an angry god =P I didn't figure anyone would care where I was from though, so I haven't bothered to mention it. That and if anyone hasn't been living under a rock, Palin has put Alaska well enough on the map and no one should be thinking I'm a Canadian or Russian anymore. :3

I dont really understand it ether... I never really liked any of the big play sets, they were a pain to clean upand my friends and I always had huge battles. I mean BIG! With the 4 of us we had a combined over 200 Joe's and Cobras, a massive air force, and tanks and trucks. We didnt really do much with boats, but when we went to the lake, the Joe's came too.
The only thing I had that was big was the 83 headquarters. We never really used it ether. The biggest we played with was the Jets. As for bigger is better... HA! Hell no... Have you guys ever seen a Chevy 4x4 truck with 44's trying to got the same places as a Toyota 4x4 with 35's? It's funny to say the least.... My little Yota (with 35'3) goes many more places then a big over sized truck ever will....
