G.I. Joe took a one-year hiatus, following 1998, and returned with a series of non-exclusive 2-packs and 4 vehicles in the Real American Hero collection. This proved successful and G.I. Joe has been going, pretty much, ever since!
For this poll, since it's mostly reuse of previous figures, I'm going to have to go with Cobra Commander. I like the black, hooded uniform. Link to L-Z Poll: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...-2000-l-z.html Link to Vehicle Drivers Poll: https://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-j...e-drivers.html

Ignoring the "half sister" bio, Chameleon is a fantastic repaint of Baroness. It retains the V1 color scheme, is used to highlight detail, and has the whites of the eyes painted.

As much as I love that Cobra Commander (and came to revile the constant reuse of my choice's mold), it was a toss up between Big Ben and Firefly.
Big Ben, being one of my favorite figures of the original run, looks excellent in Arctic colors, but the woodland deco on Firefly ultimately wins out- even if the execution was somewhat lacking.

I neither love nor hate any of these figures. Chameleon is a nice-looking repaint of Baroness, but I dislike the nonsense about creating a new "identical half-sister" character. Dial-Tone's unpainted mustache bugs me. We got too many Firefly repaints during this period, and I don't care for the silly Cobra sigil on his forehead.
I voted for Dusty from this batch. |

Close call between Dusty and Firefly for me. Voted for Dusty. I only have fond recollections of the RAHC and the enthusiasm still carries over to this day.
Dusty V3 was one of my favorite figures as a kid, I remember foolishly trading him away so the RAHC Dusty was the first time I got my hands on that figure since the early 90s. They did a good job with the color scheme and making Dusty into a more versatile figure rather than just a desert trooper. |

Big Ben (v3) - Why the sandy wash?
Chameleon (v1) - It's good, but IIRC, this is where her hair mold started to lose detail. Cobra Commander (v9) - He's dark blue and his boots are, too. Which is a little odd. Oh, flat back version. Dial Tone (v5) - no stache, no original gear. Meh. Duke (v8) - Wrong hair color, needed some more accessories. Dusty (v4) - Blue shirt? Firefly (v5) - bare hands, he's good but overrated. General Tomahawk (v1) - the flat back! The odd blue web gear. The name change. |

i went with chameleon because it gave me a ton of parts for customs and a baroness i wouldnt worry about breaking.
i almost went with big ben because i really liked they brought the adventure team logo back for him and frostbite. my puppy chewed them up at the time and i still have their remnants in a special place to remember her. i hated that cobra commander. they literally used that whole mold to make a commander in 94, with a real back, and instead they went with the battle commander flat back for this figure. it's also why i hate this general tomahawk figure - and not just because of his stupid name. I voted for CC. I love that particular repaint, flat back or not. I was excited to get the logo on the hood for the first time in the line, and I was also very happy about the big Cobra logo on the chest instead of the weird tiny one we got on the previous two releases of that mold. I also thought the red neck was a nice touch.
Dial Tone would have been a contender if he had a mustache and his backpack. As is, he always gave me Joe Colton vibes. I was so excited for the woodland camo Firefly, but my love for that figure has waned over the years. The dirty hands bug me, and he looks really sad for some reason. Like, in what we can see in the face. It's like that puppy Cobra Commander kicked was his. Idk. The Dusty figure sort of had the same issue for me that Dial Tone did. He just didn't give me "Dusty" vibes. I actually used to use him as Flint b/c I only had the Eco Warrior version at the time. The Baroness repaint is really good, and it's probably my fault that I don't appreciate it as much as I should. I preferred her 97 colors, but I thought she was super, super pasty faced, so I did a head swap as soon as I got the Chameleon figure and never changed it back. I didn't hate Duke at all, but, it was another case of the figure not really screaming "hey I'm Duke! I got a tattoo! Look at my iconic blonde ha-...oops nevermind." Tomahawk was a disaster, and I still don't know what they were thinking, and I hated the way the shade of white they used on the arctic figures like Big Ben. The 2000 line was very special to me. The first wave was the first thing I ever ordered on the internet. It was so cool to be able to get characters that I'd missed out on. Sure, Duke had brown hair and hadn't seen the sun in awhile. And his nose was a little long. But, dammit, I had a Duke. And a non-Karate action Snake Eyes. And other stuff.

Woodland Firefly, though I'd have preferred a camo (Stalker or Falcon style) to the marbled paint.
Being a big arctic Joe fan, this version of Big Ben made him a major supporting player for a while growing up. And he's fantastic, one of Hasbro's best repaints of this era. But Firefly wins out. |

Three days to go and Cobra Commander and Firefly are locked in a tie!
