That's one of my fears as well. I 100% would not be able to to tell the difference unless it was like SUPER obvious. And by super obvious I mean it's lime green or hot pink.

Having said that, and trying to keep it short, there are a number of factors at play. The first is going to be the reputability of the seller. Beyond that, I research how available repros are for the specific accessory, and how those are made- were this a CG rifle, I'd be far more dubious, as factory customs are everywhere, thanks to BM... even those have their own tells, though. That brings me to leads me to the quality of the mold, and the feel/sheen of the plastic. I've got about 35 years of handling this sort of plastic, and it's hard to explain, but I can always tell. In truth, I was WAY more concerned that it could be the Funskool reissue, but the "feel test" just about rules that out. Am I 100%? Nope, and I think that's an impossibility. I'm close enough to risk it, though. If it is a repro, it's one of the best I've seen.

You'd think, but the one accessory in my collection that I have doubts about is Skymate's boomerang. Something about it just strikes me as off.

So I guess tie dye accessories would be more appropriate!

It could be the picture quality, but to be honest, I have my doubts of the authenticity of that pistol. I know it was produced in significant numbers by at least 4 eBay members that I?ve seen. Hopefully I?m wrong but if you want to send me a more clear pic I can compare it to the ones I have I my collection.

I’ve also heard that you can do a float test. If you drop the accessory in and it sinks, it’s real. If it floats it is not. Idk if it’s true or not, but might have something to do with the plastics being used?

Sounds like people with known authentic stuff should start testing for us!

As an aside, wrt the sink test, we have a sinker... but I've always been a bit dubious of that test. Black Major's Viper rifles also sink.
Quick edit: Ha! Out of curiosity I ran another sink test- Hasbro's "retro" accessories float! Dirty scammers!!!
