I've had a good week so far. I snagged the last 1984 CLAW I need to have a full 6 vintage ones to cover my Terror Drome, and nabbed the last two 1983 Cobra Troopers I wanted so I could have a squad of 8 (army-building these guys sucks). The last three original parts I needed to complete my 1988 BUGG arrived, and I finally got a Bridge Layer on the way which is the last large 1985 vehicle I needed (aside from the Flagg which I just honestly don't have room anywhere for).
Side question for anyone else who owns a MANTA - it was a bonus with my CLAW. Was the manta design in the sail always a cutout? I could have sworn I had seen a solid version where the cutout was actually clear plastic and the camo sail was printed/painted on. Talk about a major design flaw for the GI Joe team when your wind driven surf board has a giant hole in the sail :p |

Well, I remember that you're more concerned with the condition of the figure than you are completeness, so if you want to pm that list with a "price ceiling" for each fig, I'll save it and see what I can do. I've still got some New Sculpt hanging around for you, too- I just got so damned busy with work that I had a hard time firing it off.

Shit man, I'm jealous- your list is way smaller than mine

I've still got some New Sculpt hanging around for you, too- I just got so damned busy with work that I had a hard time firing it off. I really don't know what my ceiling would be in terms of price. These last figs will just be impulse buys, trying to snipe auctions at the last minute. It's kind of a bummer I am near the end of my ARAH collecting - still have a few vehicles and MAYBE an HQ to try and acquire and probably build up some of the 1998/2000-2002 RAHC era as I love those figs as much as the original ARAH run. Admittedly, I have not really been into the ARAH mindset as of late as I am collecting some of the retro line to get my Joe fix. It's just a weird time for me as a vintage collector since I really don't have much more I want and so many of the figures/vehicles I still want are not going to be as cheap as I want them to be. It will never cease to amaze me what ARAH era figures and vehicles are being sold for. Being a collector on the after market off and on since 2000 - I never envisioned such demand and prices. |

Hell yeah it is! I lucked into both, actually- Truejoefan is a total badass and traded the CaC for a bunch of ME army builders I was getting rid of (decided to pull the plug on modern Joe). The Nitro Viper I saw for $25, figure only, on eBay. I'll need to track down another pistol for my Track Viper, but that's very doable.

Captain Red Star was a favorite of mine as a kid. Loved the hat, backpack, that the knife fit in the backback, the gun. He had the working missile launcher, before those got played out. And his missile launcher actually looked borderline real (not all neon colors).

I had always liked the Oktober Guard from the comic books. It was a different time in the 80s, and Russia was supposed to be the big enemy. To see that we are not all that different, even if it was just a fictional story, was astonishing to me. Since I had stopped getting toys in 1988, I missed this one, but I am certain I would have bought him had I still been young. I love the hat, the colors and look, and all of the accessories are great. Definitely a gem from the 90s. I do also like that the missile launcher isn't large and bulky and looks more realistic too. Only paid $25 and worth every penny.

He has awesome accessories. Removable hat, the gatling gun with ammo belt, the backpack with the antenna, a knife, and a rifle. And like you said, a nice missile launcher. It's cool that yours is 100% complete. I liked that Red Star and Big Bear could either team up with the G.I. Joes or compete against them. |
