I freaking love the Thunderwing! Some folks say it is a bit stubby but I think it looks fine and it is a great toy. The bomb drop feature is the most fun.
I have tried to convince myself to go for the Earthquake on at least 3 occasions but I just can’t get over the colors. It’s a shame too because it seems like a cool toy and the mortars in the back are really cool. |

I remember checking a few times last year and I was seeing complete ones for around 30 bucks - I did a check the other night on ebay and I think the lowest I saw for a complete was $50. |

Agree 100%. I think there are a lot of underrated figs/vehicles in the Joe line. I love 82-86' ARAH Joe as much as the next guy but there is a ton of fantastic stuff later in the line in 89-91'. Figs like Freefall, v2 Sci-Fi, CG Immortal and v2 Lowlight and vehicles like the Avalanche and Retaliator are just great.

G.I. Joe needs a fifth-generation fighter like a Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor for Ace and Slipstream to pilot. For a 15 yr. old toy, it still works well with today’s modern action figures. Here’s a few photos of what some custom stickers can do for it.

I’m pleasantly surprised to read about your shared love for the 2004 Valor vs. Venom: Thunderwing Jet in a Vintage Toys 1982-1994 ARAH hauls thread. You each have excellent taste, I might add.

Great custom stickers on the F-22. I can feel my arm being twisted into getting one again - ideally in near mint condition.
Here are my latest hauls. Nothing too exciting. I am particularly happy with getting the 2005 TRU Hydrofoil at a decent price - only issues are two of the small guns posts are broken and one broke off in the slot where the guns are placed and one engine cover tab is broken. The Brawler and Battle Bunker are both complete and in great condition. |

I want to post a quick story about my latest haul. I'll try to update with pictures later.
So the other day I am at my local comic book store when I hear someone say "I'm not really good at identifying GI Joe toys". I just look over and say "I am!". This guy was going through a collection they bought. I see sitting on the table Hardtop who has his microphone attached! So, I ask him how much and he says let me look it up. The figure was rough looking (he's been on a lot of missions LOL). He decides $55. So I pick him up. The guy was also going through a box of parts. I ask him how much for the whole box, but he says to email the owner. So the next day I do, and the owner agrees to sell me the box of parts for $75. Inside the box is Hardtop's gun! Not to mention some other really cool stuff, which was mostly common accessories. I did get a Wild Card figure with backpack (no machette though). I sold the other odds and ends I already had, and already made back the entire $130 I spent! |

Received a complete Hiss II today, unfortunately a small piece on the back of the Hiss broke during shipping - I knew it when I picked up the box and heard a small piece of plastic moving around. I will end up buying another Hiss II and completing it with other parts from this one. Needless to say it's a great tank - just a supersized, improved version of the original - I like the pink canopy against the blueish gray body - if the turret were in another color I think it would be a much more sought after vehicle.
As an aside - when I started getting back into vintage collecting I was buying up alot of everything and then I had a an idea of wanting to make my Joe and Cobra verse as realistically military as possible - only buying certain vehicles that fit that criteria due to vehicle design and colors. Once I made that my goal I found myself parting with vehicles that I had purchased when I was going vintage initially - the Hiss II must be the 6th or 7th vehicle I reacquired after parting with them - off the to of my head are the Paralyzer (I initially had two - sold them off due to their orange color), the aforementioned Hiss II (also had two of those which I sold off), MudBuster, Badger, Desert Scorpion (had two of these and stupidly sold them both off) and Mudfighter. Over the past few months I have been getting into reading alot of the great blogs out there - Mike T's Forgotten Figures, The Viper Pit, The Dragon Fortress and there are alot of great shots of Joe/Cobra vehicles that don't always have the most realistic colors but they just look great in those images. They have played a big role in me going back and expanding my GI Joe vehicle collection. Has anyone else gone through a phase like that? I'll be honest with me the hobby has had phases throughout my adulthood - I am certainly not in all my glory like I was back in 2017 when I was able to pretty much get whatever I wanted due to additional income from selling off my 25th/Modern era stuff as well as a small side business refurbishing and selling used laptops. It's just fun to go back and be able appreciate (or regain an appreciation) for items you had, got rid of and decided to buy again (it's a little insane too). |

Initially I was collecting 82-90 vehicles because that's all I had when I was a kid. So a lot of the stuff from 1990-94 I had from buying big lots of stuff I foolishly resold.
I restored a 1990 Avalanche and a 1991 Battle Wagon, only to sell them off because I was trying to focus my collection to only what I had as a kid. It wasn't until I bought a huge lot of 1989-94 GI Joe vehicles that I deceided to go ahead and collect everything from 1982-1994. Re-buying and re-restoring the Avalanche and Battle Wagon was hard pill to swallow, especially since it cost me like three times what I initially sold them for! However, I'm almost done, just need 20 more vintage vehicles to have them all. (Mostly the Night Force and bigger stuff from the late 90s.)
