Using the chest and arms of the Hiss Driver (which in turn are modified Sgt. Flash parts) and the Legs of Zartan, one wonders why Hasbro just didn't go the full route of using Zartan's chest as well as it makes for a much more interesting, and perhaps more authentic looking A.V.A.C. Several customizers have done this, and really, it looks better. Still, it's not bad and hey, at least we got an A.V.A.C.,
>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I don't know everyone is "raving" about the 25 th anniversary line so much with all of the body swapping parts used on so many figures ,yes the sculpting is more detailed than the 80's figs ,but at least the original line used individual sculpts for every figure over 90% of the time and were not used for other figures either ? Too bad Hasbro is trying to pull another fast one on us thinking we won't notice the "Frankenstien" methods they use for making new product . |

Yeah, I remembering seeing a lot of reused parts in the original line. Even as a kid, I would notice it. |

I like when people point out the reuse of parts they always point to 82. They dont really get past that. There were some reuses but for the most part 83-87 the majority of them had all new parts for each figure.

Hate to tell you this, but Hasbro did this back in the day as well. And parts were constantly used...90% of the time should be more like 50% of the time. With the original line in '82, you had three heads that were used for multiple figures. Flash, Short Fuse, Steeler and Hawk all used one, Breaker, Clutch and Rock and Roll used another and Zap, Grunt and Grand Slam all used another. It's a practice they have used since the beginning and it's not likely to change.
>>>>>>>>> Yes if you read what i wrote i didn't say the original run wasn't exempt from this ,i know in the 82' line especially body swapping was pretty bad ,probably because Hasbro didn't know if the line would be a success so they kept their production costs low by reusing the same molds for most of the figures .If you look at the lines from 84/85 and so on all of the new figures had original sculpts and were not used to make other figures ,until the repaints came out after the original line was cancelled in 94' . To say "50%" of the time this was used in the original series is incorrect and an exaggeration ,if you don't belive me go to yojoe.com and read it for yourself,i have been collecting since 86' and every year i bought the new figures that didn't have any swapped body parts on them ,it was all new construction . |

1982 out of 17 figures 11 have reused parts 1983 out of 32 figures 22 have reused parts 1984 out of 20 figures 5 have reused parts 1985 out of 28 figures 2 have reused parts 1986 out of 32 figures 9 have reused parts 1987 out of 41 figures 3 have reused parts 1988 out of 45 figures 18 have reused parts 1989 out of 45 figures 19 have reused parts 1990 out of 36 figures 14 have reused parts 1991 out of 40 figures 6 have reused parts 1992 out of 32 figures 3 have reused parts 1993 out of 106 figures 63 have reused parts 1994 out of 41 figures 24 have reused parts So out of 515 figures (Not counting variations) 199 have reused parts sounds like about 30% to me so why don't we get back to talking about the Firebat and Avac? |

Except for:
The original 16 all getting swivel arms Tan Grunt Tan Clutch Duke Doc Silver Grand Slam Viper Pilot Scrap Iron Hooded Cobra Commander Stinger Driver Tollbooth LNF Tripwire Sgt. Slaughter Dr. Mindbender Zandar Zarana Dial-Tone Leatherneck Mainframe Claymore Wet-Suit Rumbler Star Duster Steel Brigade But getting back to the Firebat, I'm digging the jet, AVAC would have been better with Zartan's torso IMO Zander...all new except upper arms (Another one up 25th) Zarana same thing only upper arms...... Dial Tone new mold......... Leatherneck all new mold....... Mainframe is an all new mold...... Wetsuit was all new mold....... Sgt Slaughter was all new...... Toll Booth only reused upper legs rest was brand new...... The old line still used more new molds......so the constent statements that the old line did the same thing is just not true.....Most ARAH Joes only used one other body part (Sometimes) while the rest of the body was a new mold.........the 25th has down right reused an entire body to make someone new......... You can go to JoJoe and look for yourself....... Last edited by spacemonkeymafia; 09-22-2008 at 08:37 AM.. |
